POSITION SCOPE

The Environmental Compliance Inspector supports Fisher Sand & Gravel Arizona's environmental programs by conducting routine field inspections, reviewing site records, and ensuring compliance with stormwater, air quality, and other regulatory requirements. Based in Phoenix with extensive travel, this role performs Method 9 opacity readings, verifies signage and equipment compliance, assists with corrective actions for out-of-compliance conditions, and supports environmental mitigation efforts when needed. The inspector works closely with site supervisors, engineers, contractors, plant personnel, and field crews to maintain accurate documentation and ensure all environmental obligations are met while working in diverse outdoor jobsite conditions. Traveling will be required.

PRIMARY DUTIES



  • Assist with the regular weekly, bi-weekly and monthly field inspections
  • and report generation for our sites carrying a stormwater permit.
  • This individual will perform Method 9 opacity readings and assist with this portion of the air quality compliance requirements.
  • This individual will be trained to assist with field corrections for reported out-of-compliance items. Responsibilities include addressing and resolving issues during and after inspections, such as securing port-o-johns, properly storing miscellaneous chemicals, and performing minor site clean-up for T&D operations.
  • This individual will have limited equipment use and capabilities on site but can support team efforts on larger environmental mitigation tasks, such as replacing CWO and installing wattles.
  • Assist with the onsite signage compliance reviewing permit numbers,
  • contacts and other postings for needed revisions and installation of signs.
  • Assist with checking California equipment for DOORS compliance.
  • Schedule site inspections with the site supervisor or designee of site environmental
  • Checking onsite records for the 310, 316 and stormwater programs. i.e. up to date permits
  • and records, method 9 cards, 310, 316 cards required by the permits to be onsite.
  • Meets with engineers, contractors, plants, and field crews to verify accuracy and completeness of all environmental site corrections or maintenance issues.
  • Travel is required
  • Extensive time in field for project management
  • Perform other duties as assigned


REQUIREMENTS



  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a high level of integrity
  • Professional with a growth mindset for a long-term period
  • Clean driving record
  • Broad knowledge of construction methods
  • Good understanding of highway construction, blueprint reading, computer skills
  • ECC, Method 9, 310 and 316 certifications are a plus and are needed to perform this job
  • Willingness to travel
  • Extensive time in field for project management


WORK ENVIRONMENT



  • Heavy travel during project construction
  • Strenuous walking and required to wear protective personal protective equipment
  • Able to work in hot or cold outdoor temperatures and job site conditions
  • Must be able to operate personal or company vehicles for business purposes
