Quality Control Superintendent/Inspector (QCS)

Position Summary:

As a Quality Control Superintendent/Inspector (QCS), you will serve as the Owner's Representative, providing comprehensive management and oversight for diverse construction projects from inception to completion. This is a

Second Shift position (4:00 PM - 12:00 AM).

You will be the on-site authority, accountable for ensuring contractor work is completed precisely to specifications.

Core Duties:



  • Oversight & Inspection: Monitor and report on contractor activities daily, verifying adherence to contract, quality, and safety standards. Perform Structural, Architectural, and MEP systems inspections.
  • Project Control: coordinate with the project manager and the 1st shift QCS on quality management issues, and track progress against the scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Administrative Management: review RFIs and submittals, analyze contractor progress payment schedules, three weeks look ahead and work schedule.
  • Financial Review: Track work quantities, review monthly pay applications, and verify billing accuracy.
  • Change Management: help with change order packages preparation.
  • Closeout: Coordinate with the PM and track all testing, deficiency corrections, and complete the final project closeout checklist.
  • Communication: ensure clear communication with the Government project team and stakeholders and submit daily reports.



Required Skills / Abilities



  • Experience working on federal projects is required.
  • OSHA 30-hour Safety Certificate or ability to quickly attain.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiar with scheduling software like Microsoft Project and Primavera 6


Education and/or Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or equivalent experience is required.
  • 5+ years minimum of construction management experience in Federal projects; ranging in size from $1m to $100m.


Certifications / Licenses



  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) from the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) is preferred.


Physical Demands

The incumbent in this position can typically expect to sit and use his/her hands to handle and feel for more than 2/3 of the day. He/she can expect to stand or walk for more than 1/3 of the day. Talking and listening are also expected for more than 2/3 of the day. The ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, or reach with arms will be needed for less than 1/3 of the day.

This position requires that the incumbent be able to lift items up to 20 pounds on an infrequent basis.

The incumbent in this position should have clear vision at 20 inches or less. He/she should be able to view various reports and forms as well as information displayed on a computer monitor and have the ability to distinguish between different colors. Depth perception, peripheral vision, the ability to focus, and the ability to see from a distance are also necessary.
