DEPARTMENT: Parks
HOURS: 15-25 hours per week. Predominantly weekend hours with additional shifts Monday-Friday including mornings, mid-day, and evenings.
HIRING RANGE: $19.00 - $22.00/hour (depending on qualifications)
LOCATION: Will vary and may include: Lebanon Hills Visitor Center (primary location), Dakota Lodge, West St. Paul, Schaar's Bluff Gathering Center, Hastings and other park rental facilities.

What You'll Do
The Dakota County Parks Department is currently recruiting to fill a Temporary Lead Facility Attendant position. This leadership role bridges frontline customer service, facility rental support, and operational logistics, helping ensure a seamless and positive experiences for park users and rental groups.

Leads work closely with temporary, part-time, and full-time staff, performing core Facility Attendant duties while also taking on administrative, project-based, and shift lead responsibilities. This is a dynamic role with a flexible schedule of an average of 15-25 hours per week. Longer shifts happen predominantly on weekends when facility rentals occur. Additional projects, system-wide park operations support, and administrative tasks are part of this role's weekly schedule; including staffing support at the Lebanon Hills Visitor Center front desk, answering park-wide questions, processing transactions and cash handling, weddings and other rental facility hosting, and facility tours. Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older, and
  • 1 year of customer service experience, and
  • Valid Driver's License.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE BEYOND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous work experience leading others.
  • Previous work experience in a parks, recreation, or event center setting.
  • Experience coordinating and/or staffing events, or event set up and take down.
  • Cash handling and point of sale experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

These examples do not include all possible tasks in this work and do not limit the assignment of related tasks in any position of this classification. Regular attendance according to the position's management approved work schedule is required for all positions.

  1. Provide high-level customer service to ensure visitors receive accurate and appropriate information in a welcoming and timely manner at visitor centers, rental facilities and park spaces.
  2. Staff Dakota County Park rental facilities as a shift lead. Assist customers (rental customers and public) and provide lead direction to facility attendants. Ensure rental space and equipment is maintained in good working order.
  3. Assist with administrative and logistical tasks for scheduling and facility management.
  4. Greet and initiate direct contact with clients and customers to ensure positive experiences and troubleshoot and address challenges in a proactive, service-oriented manner.
  5. Ensure all paperwork including rental agreements, incident reports, and daily logs are completed accurately.
  6. Utilize computerized reservation software, Microsoft Office applications, and onsite AV systems. Communicate to coworkers, visitors and renters in person, by phone and email.
  7. Ensure cash handling and daily record keeping procedures are followed.
  8. Carry, move, organize, and/or set-up County facility equipment, such as: banquet tables, chairs, picnic tables, or similar equipment.
  9. Assist with light custodial and ground maintenance as needed.
  10. Assist with special projects and perform other duties as apparent or assigned.

  • Ability to effectively operate A/V equipment, such as LCD projectors, sound systems and microphones.
  • Physical ability to carry, lift, push/pull, and move facility equipment (e.g. banquet tables and chairs).
  • Willing to learn and perform other duties.

Work Environment
Work is performed inside and outside County buildings. The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of walking, standing, crouching, or riding over rough, uneven, swampy, or rocky terrain. Staff must also have the physical ability to bend, twist, crouch, lift, forward & overhead reach, and push/pull the rental & facility equipment, such as: banquet tables, chairs, picnic tables, or similar equipment which may weigh up to 50 lbs. This position requires driving a County vehicle and use of a personal vehicle. There will be intermittent exposure to varied weather conditions on the worksite that occasionally necessitates the use of rain wear and winter wear, etc.
