Overview

NERC Reliability Compliance (NRC) is the compliance section within System & Transmission Operations. The team drives solutions for ensuring compliance with NERC Standards, including Operations & Planning and Critical Infrastructure Protection Standards. The NRC team prepares audit documentation, evaluates new NERC Standards, and tracks emerging compliance issues. This position will work closely with various teams across the organization to foster a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.The primary functions of this EP (Entry Professional) position are to assist with administrative and field initiatives related to renewable energy developers and contractors; that are performing various construction projects within company facilities, substations, or within franchised areas such as public roadways, highway, waterways, or bridges. The selected candidate is to ensure that all work is done in strict compliance with applicable company specifications, standards and procedures, and regulatory requirements. There is a large amount of clean energy work taking place over the next several years and we are looking to develop entry professionals to be future Senior Engineers.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Gain an understanding of Company compliance activities with NPCC and NERC and respond to NERC Alerts.
  • Fill in for daily tasks that Engineers and Senior Engineers perform to assist as needed and take on increased responsibilities.
  • Familiarize with all the NERC and NPCC standards impacting the Company.
  • Participate in NPCC and NERC committees and working groups.
  • Evaluate new NERC Standards and brief executives on emerging compliance issues.
  • Summarize meeting notes for executives on standard revisions and new policies from FERC and NERC.
  • Establish and maintain professional, effective, timely, and consistent communication with all stakeholders.
  • Maintain a drivers license and the qualifications and/or certifications obtained through the position. These include but are not limited to OSHA, CPR, and other required trainings to be in compliance.
  • Participate in the Companys System Emergency Assignments relative to supporting storms/events and Company emergencies.
  • Perform other tasks and assignments as needed.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security, IT or equivalent and 1 year of relevant work experience Includes cumulative work or
  • equivalent internship/co-op
  • experience OR Six months of Con
  • Edison co-op or internship
  • experience.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Experience working in a team, tracking tasks and reporting progress. Required
  • Effective interpersonal skills to appropriately interact with company employees and external customers. Required
  • One year of work experience (including Co-Op, Internship, or Research). Required
  • Demonstrated ability to accept challenges. Required
  • Must exercise good judgement and render sound decisions. Required
  • Ability to interface with external agencies, third party developers/contractors, and customers. Required
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, written, presentation and technical skills. Required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access Database). Required
  • Must demonstrate a positive work ethic in support of the Companys Values, Vision, and Mission Statements. Required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, contractors/vendors, and personnel at the same time. Required

Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory
  • Must be willing to travel throughout the USA and Canada to attend industry and regulatory meetings
  • Ability to travel to company locations for storm restoration and heat contingencies
