TITLE

Aircraft Dispatcher (Part-time)

JOB SUMMARY

This in-person position will be responsible for dispatching flight students in aircraft at the TWU Flight Center located at Denton Enterprise Airport. Responsibilities include the complete, accurate, and timely scheduling and dispatching of flight students, simulators, and aircraft to ensure the flight schedule is efficiently executed. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively with instructors, faculty, staff, and students. The dispatcher will assist the Flight Coordinator in training additional student workers in a dispatch position. Work is performed within established policies and procedures under general supervision and performance is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Flight Coordinator

Supervises: May supervise student workers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:

  • Conduct opening and closing shift procedures for TWU Flight Center.

  • Assists with on-the-job training of additional student workers.

  • Assist with managing and creating dispatch schedules.

  • Accurately log and amend flight reservations for flight students.

  • Check required pre-flight documentation.

  • Coordinate and track simulator usage.

  • Greet all students in a professional manner.

  • Answer dispatch phones.

  • Provide confidential communications to each student with flight account balances, as needed.

  • Notify appropriate leadership and maintain accurate data entries in the event of an aircraft emergency.

  • Prioritize dispatch duties in a manner that promotes smooth aircraft handovers while ensuring all required documents have been properly filed.

  • Be able to pass security background and airport clearance checks.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Serve as backup shuttle driver from Denton Municipal Airport to TWU Denton campus as needed.

  • Performs other duties as requested.

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college course work preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Two or more years of experience, preferably in service-related industry. Any experience in aviation operations, particularly flight, is a plus. Basic understanding of the Doswell Aeronautical Sciences pilot licensing types and lesson requires preferred.

REQUIREMENT

Regular and reliable attendance at the Denton Municipal Airport during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.

All employees share the responsibility of maintaining information security and privacy requirements within the university by adhering to Federal and State regulations, and TWU Policies & Procedures.

The employee must be able to work evenings and some Saturdays. Employee must have own transportation to and from work location at Denton Enterprise Airport and must complete an online driver's training and skills assessment.

  • Ability to work with common record keeping software applications, MS Excel, Google Drive, etc.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to be flexible and deal with change.

  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee may be required to travel.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to grasp, handle, feel, or manipulate objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye. May be required to sit for long periods of time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
