Through our family of online tools and mobile applications, we make it easier for physicians and other HCPs to access top clinical decision support sources, stay abreast of the latest science and clinical information, learn about new treatment options, and earn continuing medical education credits.
Medscape seeks a Section Editor to join our team that helps create the site's most popular and enduring content, disease and condition reference articles, reaching millions of HCPs across the globe. This role will liaise with external HCP contributors to ensure that reference content is accurate, current, and relevant to the audience.
Responsibilities:
  • Research, develop, edit, copyedit and manage complex disease and condition reference articles in the areas of cardiology, gastroenterology and other specialties as assigned
  • Perform literature reviews and evaluate biomedical literature in accordance with Best Practices
  • Update complex content to ensure accuracy and currency in accordance with Best Practices
  • Recruit, engage, and maintain regular communication with clinician authors and section chiefs
  • Collaborate with editorial coordinator and editorial colleagues in their assigned specialties
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvement efforts in editorial and content management work
  • Update content for search engine optimization
  • Demonstrate excellence in organizational citizenship
  • Manage relevant scheduling, processes, and analytics for editorial activities
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI tools for content ideation, drafting and optimization
  • Evaluate AI-generated or AI-assisted content for accuracy, bias, and adherence to evidence-based best practices
Skills, Requirements, and Experience
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, English, journalism, or similar emphasis, professional clinical degree, or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in medical writing and editing for professional audiences
  • Ability to accurately locate, interpret, and synthesize biomedical literature
  • Strong editorial judgement, organizational ability, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to work effectively in a face-paced environment
  • Effective problem-solving skills and a proactive, collaborative mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of medical nomenclature
  • Proficiency in productivity and collaboration tools (i.e. Google Workspace)
  • Experience with AI tools and technologies, and understanding of ethical use of AI
Preferred:
  • Experience creating content in cardiology and gastroenterology
  • Familiarity with SEO, content strategy, and data analytics
  • Experience with AI-powered editing tools
Salary range: $70,000 - $80,000
