HJF is seeking a Research Coordinator II to support the Murtha Cancer Center Research Program (MCCRP) at the MCCRP Rockledge Office located in Bethesda, Maryland. This position will work in support of the Prometheus Research studies. The incumbent will assist with virtual/telephone patient consents, intake form completion, and collecting, documenting, and entering data. Candidate will solve problems of moderate complexity in carrying out Prometheus research projects in an office environment.

The John P. Murtha Cancer Center at Walter Reed Bethesda is a modern, patient-centric, tri-service military healthcare facility. Its comprehensive core of military and civilian oncologists and other cancer- trained clinicians and researchers provide multidisciplinary cancer-care delivery and patient-family support services. Our Cancer Center, the only DoD Cancer Center of Excellence within the Military Health System, offers its patients access to cutting-edge cancer diagnostic and treatment technologies.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. U.S. Citizenship is required for the position



  • Schedules and administers a virtual facilitated patient interview using the Veterans - Military and Occupational Assessment Tool (V-MOAT) in support of the MCCRP's PROMETHEUS study for Cancer Moonshot 2.
  • Collects baseline and follow-up data ensuring compliance and quality assurance are met.
  • Serves as primary point of contact and liaison for the Prometheus studies by completing intake forms, phone calls/voicemails for Coordinating Center review.
  • Maintains clear and accurate research records. Performs data entry for Prometheus research projects and may maintain data and database(s). Supports the Prometheus team with electronic health record reviews/retrieval of data.
  • Review relevant data from electronic medical records (EMR) and other clinical documentation to support research activities.
  • Perform systematic quality checks on collected data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness across, databases, and source documents.
  • Cross-validate information between source medical records, study databases, to identify and correct discrepancies.
  • Work closely with research staff, investigators, and data management teams to resolve data queries and ensure protocol adherence.
  • Schedules and runs project meetings
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role.


Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience required.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage large volumes of data accurately.
  • Ability to follow basic instructions.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients and staff.
  • Experience searching the Electronic Health Record.
  • Proactive problem solving and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines of projects.
  • Knowledge of proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to operate a computer and virtual meeting software (MS Teams and Google Meet).
  • Effectively communicate with a diverse group of people.
  • Has knowledge of medical terminology, particularly including exposure terminology highly preferred.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a T3 secret clearance.


Physical Capabilities



  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods


Work Environment



  • This position will take place primarily in a office/laboratory setting.


Compensation



  • The hourly pay range for this position is $27.72-$36.00. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
