Covia is looking for a dynamic Environmental, Health, and Safety Coordinator who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Fort Smith, AR location. As an EHS Coordinator, you will supervise and administer the EHS programs in a manner consistent with corporate and governmental standards.

The successful candidate will have the following Key Accountabilities:

EHS



  • Monitor work activities to ensure plant personnel are in alignment with safety training programs consistent with Corporate Safety and Health policies that incorporate required regulatory training.
  • Maintain and direct safety training programs, including MSHA New Miner Training, Annual Refresher Training, Site Specific Contractor Training, First Aid, CPR & AED training and all provisional training as required by environmental permits.
  • Monitor and perform regularly scheduled audits and inspections for plant program adherence to all policies, processes, equipment and work areas.
  • Conduct incident and near hit ICAM investigations.
  • Manage employee physicals and audiograms.
  • Perform industrial hygiene sampling for both personal and work areas relating to dusty, heavy metals and noise categories to meet corporate sampling and health objectives.
  • Supervise the operation and maintenance of equipment relating to the control of water and air pollution and the monitoring equipment associated with environmental requirements.
  • Submit reports for all safety & environmental policies, procedures and regulations at the Federal, State, Local and Internal levels for subjects including safety inspection, MSHA man-hours worked, WC & MSHA injury.
  • Perform various activities to maintain compliance with required local, state, and federal laws and all associated permit regulations including: NPDES Water Sampling and Reporting, air quality monitoring and annual storm water inspection planning and maintenance.



General



  • Work under the direction of the EHS Supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



The successful candidate will have the following Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or related field required.
  • 1-2 years of Occupational Safety & Health experience required, EHS experience in mineral processing preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & SharePoint.
