AIM OF THE POSITION

The Clinical Application Scientist (CAS) is an interdisciplinary role, performing a variety of procedures involving molecular techniques and supporting laboratory duties. The CAS I is responsible for enabling customer success by providing technical training and support for Agendia products.

POSITION WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION

1. Reports to Manager, Product Support

2. Cooperates with all departments across the organization

- Project meetings

- Validations/Verifications

- Project groups

- Quality Control

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Support:

* Provides comprehensive technical training and support for Agendia's decentralized technology, including laboratory and software training

* Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for customers in person, or via phone, email, or web

* Provide pre and post technical and scientific presentations on the use of Agendia's decentralized technology

* Execute laboratory projects that include demonstrations, feasibility studies, new product evaluation, validation, and contract research services

* Implement training plans and courses for internal and external customers

* Participate in new product development projects as a representative of the technical support team

* Assist in the creation and review of technical materials including manuals, notes, and presentations

* Provides technical expertise and acts as a resource for laboratory support personnel

Laboratory Activities:

* Provides technical expertise and acts as a resource for laboratory licensed and non-licensed personnel

* Maintains laboratory logs according to Good Documentation Practices

* Perform diagnostic laboratory activities on the basis of standard operating procedures as needed

* Assists for troubleshooting, identifying root cause, and implementing corrective actions

* Performs various maintenance and/or housekeeping tasks to keep laboratory clean and ensure functionality of equipment

* Performs all aspects of laboratory procedures following safety guidelines and adhering to

protocols as it pertains to Agendia, Inc.'s health and safety policies and procedures

* Responsible for assigned projects (instrument comparisons, instrument calibrations, staff schedules, process improvement, lab training and competency, assay or instrument validation, quality control, etc.)

Professional:

* Adhere to various federal and state laws, regulations and guidelines (e.g. California labor laws, OSHA, CUA, College of American Pathologist, and New York State Department of Health, GLP, GCP, HIPAA, ISO 13485, and other as applicable).

KEY CONTACTS

Internal

o Works closely with the Laboratory Operations team, cross-functionally with R&D, Product Support, Product Development, Quality/Regulatory, and Commercial teams.

o This position may interact with all departments within the company.

External

o Work closely with external customers and OEM vendors

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

* High school diploma or equivalent

* Bachelor's degree required

* California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist (CGMBS) License or any other specialist license that can perform high complexity molecular testing.

EXPERIENCE

* 1+ years clinical laboratory experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 0+ years clinical lab experience with a Master's degree.

* Must have experience with molecular diagnostic techniques, working with databases, microarray analysis, Next Generation Sequencing, working with quality systems, lab automation and statistical analysis and/or software.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA'S)

* Proficient with general lab best practices and common Molecular Biology techniques

* Exceptionally knowledgeable of all techniques involving DNA/RNA extractions, PCR and RT-PCR reactions, sequencing, and other molecular genetic techniques

* Ability to learn, develop and/or modify procedures for new processes and products

* Strong analytical, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills

* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization

* Ability to handle biological samples and potentially hazardous chemicals

* Read, analyze, and interpret Operating Procedures, instructions, technical procedures

* Maintain QC/QA data records and review documentation for compliance

* Computer Skills: Familiar with the Microsoft Windows environment and Office applications. Ability to operate as an independent contributor and in a collaborative environment

ENVIRONMENT/SAFETY/WORK CONDITIONS

* Standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, manual manipulation, and lifting up to 15 pounds.

* Must follow lab safety practices when working in freezer or with hazardous materials including use of personal protective equipment such as: gloves, lab coats, and safety glasses

* Must be able to read and understand scientific and complex directions.

TRAVEL

* This position requires travel up to 50%, including international travel.
