About the Role We're looking for a hands-on, inspiring Software Engineering Manager to lead multiple teams of talented engineers in building scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems. In this role, you'll balance technical depth with people leadership, shaping the future of our engineering culture while delivering impactful, business-critical solutions. You'll spend roughly 50% of your time leading and mentoring engineers, building high-performing teams, guiding architectural direction, and fostering technical excellence, and 50% hands-on, designing systems, writing code, leveraging AI-driven tools, and solving complex challenges. What You'll Do Lead & Grow People * Inspire, mentor, and develop engineers through coaching, career growth, and feedback. * Build a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement. * Drive recruiting, onboarding, and retention of top technical talent. Drive Technical Excellence * Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering peers to define technical strategy and deliver on the roadmap. * Lead architectural design, code reviews, and best engineering practices across teams. * Ensure code quality, scalability, and operational excellence across systems and releases. Shape Strategy & Execution * Translate business goals into actionable, measurable engineering plans. * Balance delivery speed with long-term maintainability and technical debt reduction. * Monitor key engineering metrics, velocity, quality, performance, and reliability. Optimize Processes * Evolve engineering processes to improve speed, reliability, and collaboration. * Champion agile practices and CI/CD for efficient delivery. * Identify and remove bottlenecks across people, systems, and workflows. What You Bring * Bachelor's or master's in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience. * 8+ years of experience in software engineering, including 3+ years in technical leadership or management role. * Proven experience leading teams building distributed, cloud-native, or large-scale systems. * Proficiency in modern languages (e.g., Python, Java, React). * Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, and modern DevOps practices. * Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills. * A track record of aligning engineering execution with business strategy. Preferred Qualifications * Experience scaling teams in a high-growth or transformation environment. * Knowledge of microservices, event-driven systems, and data-intensive architecture. * Familiarity with observability, incident management, and reliability engineering. * Passion for mentorship, diversity, and inclusion in engineering organizations.
