Description TEKsystems is in need of a Telecommunications Helper for our client in the Wellsburg, WV market. This client is a communications contractor offering a full range of fiber optic and cable network services. Servicing Cox Communications, Comcast Cable, Segra and Suddenlink in the States of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and in Washington D.C., we are a trusted resource for cabling and maintaining high-speed internet connectivity via fiber optic and coaxial systems. * These technicians will be aligned geographically and will be responsible for the hands on cable constructions in the WV Markets. * These crews will be working along side a lead out in the field. * They will be managed and held to standards by the construction coordinators and the customers. * The technician will need to have experience with UG construction, pulling fiber or coax, digging, utilities, etc. * They are expected to have experience using basic hand tools and being a team player. * They will be hand digging, site organization, pulling underground and aerial cables and helping where needed so initiative out in the field. Reliable, integrity, work ethic, team player. Also the ability to drive, must be 21. Job Requirements (but not limited to): * Underground Fiber / Coax construction experience * Ability to hand dig, rod and rope, set vaults, set peds, and pull fiber/coax * Must be able to drive a truck and trailer * Equipment operating skills is a plus * Must be able to dig a trench * Construction background in underground utilities is a plus * Ability to read HFC maps / prints to understand project scope * Ability to Climb poles, utilizing Gaffs, Ladder and a Bucket Truck to perform work where required * Maintain visual and vocal contact with other crew members as well as all moving or stationary people, vehicles, and objects in order to guarantee safe movement coordination. * Ability to recognize and enforce Safe working environments in Public Right-of-Way environments to include worksite traffic-control best practices. * Able to produce accurate post-construction as-built mark-up maps. Typically, through red-lined PDF files. * Ability to provide daily production reports via email/excel or additional tracking methods. * Maintaining aerial specifications when placing overhead lines * Knowledge of HFC design * Ability to effectively communicate with others and work within a team environment * Ability to be at work every day at 7am * Possession of a valid Driver's license * Ability to pass a drug screening * Ability to read and understand technical instruction * Able to lift up to 50-80 pounds * Ability to withhold different types of environments * ABLE TO PASS A DOT PHYSICAL * MUST BE 21 TO APPLY Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wellsburg, WV. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
