This position is 20 hours a week in the Kansas City area.

Purpose

The Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk (MCPER) in UT Austin's College of Education seeks applicants for a Research Coordinator to support implementation of research projects with Grades 3 through 4 students in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Specific duties include the day-to-day implementation of a federally funded research grant focused on researching an intervention focused on math vocabulary.

The Math Words Research Coordinator oversees the planning and daily operations of the Math Words vocabulary intervention study within participating Kansas City area elementary classrooms.

The coordinator prepares and delivers project materials, tracks participating students, and supports teachers during data collection activities.

This role manages secure data entry and organization, monitors project progress, and provides timely updates and documentation to the research team.

The coordinator ensures that the Math Words study runs efficiently so researchers can evaluate how targeted math vocabulary instruction supports student learning.

Responsibilities
  • The PC will implement daily project activities in participating schools, which includes visiting Kansas City area local schools in a personal vehicle to meet with teachers, supporting implementation of instruction, assisting with delivering professional development, conducting observations of teachers' instruction and providing implementation feedback, communicating regularly with participants (i.e., teachers, school staff), and assisting with data collection (e.g., audio recordings, administering pretesting and posttesting).

  • The PC will assist the Project Director with preparing materials for instruction (e.g., creating and revising intervention materials), professional development (e.g., creating PowerPoints for professional development sessions), and assessment. The PC will also assist with coding implementation fidelity data (i.e., listening to audio recordings to assess teachers' implementation of instructional practices). The PC will also assist with maintaining meeting notes and organizing project files

  • Assisting with dissemination efforts, including preparing dissemination products, updating websites, and sharing project information on social media.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in education and more than 5 years of experience in field of study (preferably math). More than 5 years of classroom experience working with students with learning disabilities or difficulties in the areas of mathematics. More than 5 years of experience in an educational leadership role supporting math instruction in the classroom. Strong organizational and time-management skills, as evidenced by application materials and work experience.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

14 years teaching math or related field. Bachelor's degree in education and Master's degree in Special Education.

Experience in teaching Special Education or a related field as evidenced in application materials. Experience administering assessments, as demonstrated by previous work experience. Experience in collaborating, incorporating feedback, and communicating well with others, as evidenced by application materials. Experience demonstrating oral and written communication skills for a variety of audiences, including students, teachers, administrators, and the public, as evidenced by application materials.

Salary Range

$89,000 - $91,000 Full Time Equivalent ($44,500 - $45,500 prorated range)
