Summary

Provides operational and administrative leadership for the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine within the Department of Medicine (Unit 2). Partners with the Division Chief, departmental teams and leaders, and affiliate leaders to advance clinical, research, and educational priorities through sound financial management, effective team leadership, and operational excellence.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serves as a key partner to the Division Chief, faculty, and affiliate partners to ensure divisional alignment with departmental/unit and institutional priorities.
  • Reports to and collaborates with the Department Administrator and Unit Executive Administrators to advance operational goals and initiatives.
  • Functions as a member of the Clinical Management Team, representing the division and collaborating with medical directors and affiliate partner managers and directors at Froedtert Health, ThedaCare, and the Veterans Administration Medical Center.
  • Contributes to and participates in cross-division collaboration, shared administrative systems, and process-improvement initiatives.
  • Provides leadership and direction for divisional administrative, financial, and operational activities, ensuring compliance with institutional, departmental, and affiliate policies.
  • Manages the division's budget and resource utilization; prepares financial reports and projections for the Division Chief.
  • Supervises administrative and program coordinator staff; ensures appropriate workload distribution, cross-training, and professional development.
  • Participates in workforce planning and position management processes in coordination with the department team and leaders, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and fiscal responsibility.
  • Supports faculty recruitment, onboarding, and retention; ensures processes align with Office of Faculty Affairs and departmental guidelines.
  • Leads or participates in process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives that advance the division's clinical, research, and education missions.
  • Collaborates with peer Senior Business Managers and Department leadership on sub-unit and department-wide initiatives, promoting consistency and shared best practices.
  • Oversees the preparation of divisional reports, data analysis, and materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support divisional and departmental operations.

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities

  • Knowledge of business and management principles required for budgeting, human resources, and operations within an academic medical environment.
  • Ability to partner effectively with medical directors, affiliate leaders, and faculty to achieve programmatic and operational goals.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex operations and multiple priorities.
  • Skilled in process improvement, workflow design, and team development.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and collaboration across teams.




Preferred Schedule:




Full-time role with expectations for coverage during core business hours and flexibility required as necessary to accommodate business needs.

Appropriate experience may be substituted on equivalent basis.

Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's degree

Minimum Required Experience: 8 year's
