Hourly Pay: $39.56

Job Summary: The Parks Carpenter is responsible for designing, building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, furniture, and other items using different types of materials including wood and steel to protect and enhance departmental assets.



Essential Responsibilities:



  • Perform carpentry and related activities - Perform inspections of departmental assets for building code compliance and maintenance needs. Perform routine and emergency repairs of buildings and structures including but not limited to; doors, windows, roofs, walls, floors, ceilings, siding, bridges, fences, and wooden/timber structures.
  • New Construction - Design and build new construction projects includng but not limited to; show props, furniture, cabinets, signs, bridges, and buildings.
  • Locksmith - Install, remodel, repair, and maintain lock mechanisms, door openers, closures, and hardware.
  • Adminstrative - Utilize computer-based work order system for job asks, initiate work requests to other trades or divisions, and document work/inspections. Order materials and supplies in county procurement program.
  • Special Projects - Participate on special carpenter related projects.
  • General small tool maintenance and repair - To keep all power equipment and hand tools, consistent with the trade, in working condition.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Current resident of Wisconsin.
  • Possession of a valid State of Wisconsin Driver's License, able to be maintained throughout employment.
  • Possession of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Five (5) or more years of work experience as a Recognized Journeyman Carpenter.
  • Completion of a Carpenter Apprenticeship or possession of a Recognized Journeyman Certification.
  • The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50lbs.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with blueprint design review.
  • Experience with roofing, shingling, drywall, or specialized form construction.
  • Experience with custom cabinet building.
  • Possession of Asbestos Certification.
