Overview

As an Employment Counsel, you will be responsible to analyze and provide legal advice with respect to routine, moderately complex and complex legal issues and matters presenting a moderate level of legal, business or financial risk. This position involves frequent communication with internal clients affected by the legal matters handled, business unit management, vice presidents and C-level executives, external customers, partners and vendors, and outside counsel. This role will serve as the primary legal advisor to HR on labor and employment matters, while also supporting the company's broader compliance and privacy initiatives. These responsibilities must be fulfilled in a manner which supports the Company's business objectives with an appropriate sense of urgency to fulfill internal client requirements.



Responsibilities

    Analyze and provide legal advice to the Company, management and employees related to routine, moderately complex and complex legal matters presenting moderate levels of legal, business or financial risk.
  • Provide day-to-day legal support for HR on matters such as hiring, employee relations, performance management, terminations, and workplace investigations.
  • Draft, review, and update employment agreements, policies, handbooks, and codes of conduct.
  • Advise on wage and hour compliance, leave laws, accommodations, and other workplace regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with HR on employee training initiatives and organizational change projects.
  • Manage employment-related disputes and oversee outside counsel as needed.
  • Support the company's compliance program, including policy development, risk assessments, training, and monitoring.
  • Provide guidance on global data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA where applicable), including data subject rights, cross-border data transfers, and vendor contracts.


Basic Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor Degree (or equivalent) and active law license in applicable jurisdiction
  • Fluent in English
  • Attention to detail, strong administrative skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Preferred 5+ years of relevant legal experience, including at least 3 years with relevant legal experience as in-house counsel
  • Direct experience advising on employment law related matters both within the US and internationally
  • Preferred IAPP certification
  • Strong proficiency in conducting legal research, gathering and compiling information, drafting commercial contracts and preparing memoranda and other legal communications
  • Excellent communication skills in writing and speech
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the principal duties of the job

Based on individual states' employment laws, the following details are to comply with the relevant salary posting requirements: base salary range of $101,600-152,400 and eligible for benefits.
