Position Title:Patient Technology Specialist
Department:Child Life Program
Job Description:
General Description: The Patient Technology Specialist is responsible for the development and management of patient centered and departmental technology based programming within the Child Life and Therapeutic Programs department, under the direct supervision of the Manager, Child Life Zone and Special Events. Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.
- Dedicated to technology driven experiences and programming
- Promotes optimal adjustment of patients and families through the use of technology to aid in coping and understanding of their treatment, illness, and disability.
- Provides appropriate gaming and technology based interventions bedside based on assessment in collaboration with child life specialists.
- Oversees technology programming including inventory, set up and maintenance.
- Provides technology experiences for patients and families in unit playrooms, Child Life Zone, special events and at bedside; including but not limited to VR, gaming, ITZTV programming.
- Provides programming and experiences within innovation space as well as for In the Zone TV CCTV programs.
- Provides opportunities for inclusive and engagement technology opportunities throughout a virtual platform.
- Responsible for the oversight and training of volunteers, special guests and students involved with technology related interactions.
- Liaison with internal and external IT resources, partners and vendors
General Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Associate's degree required. Experience: 0 - 3 years of experience required Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required: None. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
- Knowledge and experience with setting standards for developmentally appropriate technology based
- programming, video gaming, and organizational skills
- Proficient with all aspects of Video Game play, device maintenance, and general technological prowess
- Able to deal courteously and sensitively with patients and families
- Basic understanding of child and adolescent development
- Must be self-motivated and able to problem solve both independently and in a team setting
