Senior Accountant / Financial Reporting/ Accounting Manager
Location: Nassau County, NY
Salary: $135k-150k base

Thriving Real Estate Investment firm is seeking a highly detail-oriented and motivated Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager to join their finance team. This critical role is responsible for executing complex accounting and financial reporting processes, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC requirements, and supporting the rigorous reporting needs of our properties and partnerships.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses strong technical accounting experience.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Closing
  • Manage and execute monthly and quarterly financial close procedures, including preparing journal entries and related workpaper schedules for consolidated and unconsolidated properties.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual consolidation files (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow, Statement of Stockholders' Equity, OCI Statements).
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly Form 10-Qs and annual Form 10-Ks, along with comprehensive supporting schedules.
  • Prepare specialized quarterly multi-year Income Statement and Cash Flow Projections for Executive Management and the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare quarterly mortgage submissions, including property-level financial statements and rent rolls.
Technical Accounting & Compliance
  • Conduct research and prepare detailed memos on the accounting treatment of new accounting pronouncements.
  • Research and prepare various technical accounting memos regarding complex issues (e.g., leasing, sales, purchases, etc.).
  • Prepare quarterly debt covenant calculations and supporting files for bank submissions.
  • Review quarterly bank reconciliations.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax-related schedules, including the Form 1120-REIT.
Audit, Controls, & Operations
  • Manage and coordinate all requests from external auditors and internal auditors for quarterly and annual reviews, and SOX/COSO testing requirements.
  • Maintain and update internal control documentation (including narratives, key controls, and risk control assessments).
  • Review and approve invoices and expenses for payment processing (via Payscan).
  • Assist Executive Management with various ad-hoc projects, including the preparation of Investor Presentation files.

Qualifications
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and execute short-close periods on a quarterly basis.
  • Strong technical accounting background with expertise in US GAAP; SEC reporting experience (10-Q/10-K) is highly preferred.
  • Experience with real estate accounting or REIT reporting is a plus.
  • Experience managing internal controls and coordinating audits (SOX/COSO compliance).
  • High proficiency in Excel and financial consolidation software.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail required for managing complex workpapers.

The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
