Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Investment Operations Analyst!

About the Role

The Investment Operations Analyst will provide overall day-to-day investment operations support to the Company's investment portfolio managers, traders, investment reporting and compliance teams. The primary responsibilities of this position include the back and middle office functions of investment operations. Investments may include securities (primarily bonds), derivatives, alternative assets and loans.

What you will do



  • Processing investment transactions. This may include entry of trades into Symetra's trade order management system and/or investment book of record. This may also include sending portfolio allocations to brokers, confirmation/affirmation process and being responsible for ensuring that trades settle timely.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of data by performing reconciliations between the order management system, custodian, accounting agent and others. Work with appropriate parties to resolve identified issues.
  • Processing of secondary events in trade order management system and/or investment book of record. These may include, but are not limited to, corporate actions, paydowns on private placement securities and bank loans, and capital calls/distributions on private equity and private debt funds. These may also include responsibilities associated with derivative collateral management.
  • Client relations. As a Registered Investment Advisor, SIM invests on behalf of institutional clients who need information about their investments. Providing them information timely and accurately, and maintaining good relationships with clients.
  • Participating in special projects, supporting internal/external audit requests and other ad hoc requests including light reporting responsibilities.

Compensation

Salary Range:$77,600 - $129,400 plus eligibility for annual bonus programs

Who you are



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-5 years of cumulative, relevant experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail while being analytically oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task and to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Continuously exhibit a high level of motivation and initiative. Results focused.
  • Occasional nights and weekends will be required.
  • Ideal candidate must have versatility and flexibility to assist with coverage of other team members.
  • Candidate is expected to look at policies and processes and provide recommendations for improvement and automation.
  • Candidate must have a strong technology focus and have interest and ability to use technology to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Bloomberg or other trade order management system experience.
  • Simcorp Dimension or other investment accounting system experience.
  • Good Excel skills.
  • Previous experience working with investments including fixed income, alternative assets, loans and/or derivatives.
  • PowerBI or similar reporting application.
  • High school diploma required.
  • This is a remote role with required travel to the Farmington, CT office for in-person events a few times per year.
