As a Lab Technician, you'll have the responsibility of providing material analysis and reporting support using material laboratory facilities. You'll provide analytical services to support failure analysis, reliability investigations, warranty or litigation cases, special process certification or material acceptance for regulatory and contractual requirements.

What you'll do:

  • Ensuring that they are thoroughly familiar with the inspection methods, techniques, aids, tools and equipment used within their assigned area of responsibility.

  • Maintaining proficiency in using the inspection aids in their assigned area of responsibility.

  • Ensuring that the inspection tools and equipment, including inspection aids, used to perform inspections are in proper working order and the proper calibration information is affixed.

  • Understanding the current specifications involving inspection tolerances, limitations, and procedures established by the manufacturer of the article(s) being inspected.

  • Maintain work flow with the Production team.

  • Observe and monitor production operations and equipment to ensure compliance to specifications and make or order necessary process or assembly adjustments.

  • Adjust, clean or repair products or processing equipment to correct defects found during inspections

  • Maintain inspection log. Tracks and distributes test results. Records batch information and prepares logs for traceability.

  • Maintain Vouchering up-to-date.

  • Performs daily routing cleaning and upkeep of working area.

  • Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, and work in compliance with specifications.

  • Prepare and maintain detailed repair, inspection, investigation, and certification records and reports.

  • Analyze and interpret blueprints, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required.

  • Ensure all inspections are properly performed and recorded, and all records are properly executed.

  • Prepares complex metallurgical tests according to prescribed procedures and maintains records of results.

  • Prepares samples for metallographic analysis including sectioning, mounting, polishing, etching and electro-etching.

  • Schedules production and project work and generates delivery measures of performance.

  • Maintains and orders necessary equipment and consumables to perform all laboratory work.

  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.

  • Carries out other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with computer systems.

  • At least 1 year of experience with precision measuring instruments. (Hardness tester, Micrometer)

  • At least 1 year experience working with technical manuals, blueprint, or work instructions.

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted).

  • Ability to understand, speak, read and write English.

Preferred Characteristics:

  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.

  • Previous experience in a metallurgical or chemical laboratory environment.

  • Previous experience in a Quality Control function.

  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes such as brazing, plating, metallizing, welding and heat treatment.
