Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Clinic Services Representative I in Rutgers Health University Dental Associates, the faculty practice of the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine ( RSDM).

Under general supervision, the Clinic Services Representative I carries out a variety of front desk services related to cash collection. Additionally, this individual serves as a receptionist, maintains appointment books, requests charts, posts payments, enters and updates patient demographic and insurance information, and collects copayments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Registers patients presenting for treatment at Rutgers University Dental Associates. Enters all biographic and insurance information into appropriate computer system. Checks patient identification as required by RSDM/RUDA policies. Audits patient data, such as address, to ensure information is current.
  • Obtains a copy of the patients' Medicaid/Medicaid HMO card each month, verifies, and updates information as needed.
  • Ensures that the designated insurance copayment is collected before patient is seen by student.
  • Responsible for the collection and posting of patient payments. Ensures that the patient payments are recorded properly. Prepares computer receipts for patients.
  • Responds with good customer service to patients inquiries or transfers, as appropriate, to a financial coordinator.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible clerical experience required, of which one year must have been in a business setting involving cash collections.


Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate, including proficiency in Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree preferred but not required.
  • Preference will be given to those with at least three (3) years of prior dental front desk experience.
