Position Title:Housekeeper Lead / EVS Tech II Department:Environmental Services Job Description:

The Environmental Services (EVS) Tech II performs environmental cleaning, specialized floor care, and project-based work while supporting daily operations through workflow coordination, training, and quality assurance activities. The role ensures the facility meets the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and regulatory compliance. The EVS Tech II also assists with resolving service issues, supporting staff, and maintaining equipment and supplies needed for efficient EVS operations.

Essential Responsibilities:

Houskeeper and Floor Tech Duties:

  • Performs complex and highrisk environmental cleaning and disinfection tasks in patient, clinical, and public areas, ensuring adherence to infection prevention and safety standards while supporting overall environmental quality in the facility.

  • Completes specialized and projectbased work, including terminal cleaning, deep cleaning, renovation support, environmental resets, and unit opening preparation.

  • Performs quality rounding and cleaning effectiveness checks to ensure compliance with departmental standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Responds to service requests and concerns, providing appropriate service recovery and communicating issues requiring escalation.

  • Supports daily shift operations by confirming staffing needs, assigning work, distributing equipment, and ensuring workflow readiness.

  • Receives and prioritizes service calls from departments, delegating tasks appropriately to EVS associates to maintain efficient service.

  • Provides training, coaching, and handson instruction to EVS staff in proper cleaning methods, equipment operation, chemical safety, and infectioncontrol practices.

  • Assists with onboarding new employees by demonstrating departmental procedures, cleaning techniques, and safe work practices.

  • Performs and documents quality control (QC) inspections as assigned, reporting deficiencies or trends to leadership.

  • Ensures adherence to infection control standards, safety procedures, and regulatory expectations including Joint Commission, CMS, and state guidelines.

  • Maintains and troubleshoots EVS equipment, reporting repair or preventive maintenance needs to ensure safe and reliable operation.

  • Supports operational readiness by monitoring supply levels, stocking materials, and helping staff obtain required items for daily work.

  • Demonstrates professionalism and models department standards for conduct, safety, attendance, and compliance with dress code expectations.

  • Participates in departmental quality improvement and continuous improvement initiatives related to cleanliness, workflow efficiency, or patient experience.

If assigned to one of the areas below, responsibilities may also include:

Housekeeper Duties:

  • Provides unitlevel operational support by monitoring workflow and assisting with coverage needs across assigned areas.

  • Ensures continuity of service by coordinating or assisting with break coverage assignments when required.

  • Investigates escalated guest or staff concerns related to cleaning quality and reports findings or resolutions to management.

Floor Care Duties:

  • Performs advanced floor care procedures including stripping, waxing, sealing, burnishing, buffing, carpet extraction, and grout restoration.

  • Operates specialized floorcare equipment such as burnishers, buffers, autoscrubbers, and carpet extractors.

  • Coordinates floorcare work to minimize disruption to patient care and departmental operations.

  • Maintains floorcare equipment and ensures safe usage, reporting any repair or maintenance needs promptly.

General Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience: At least 3 years of related experience required.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:

None required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to perform complex and highrisk environmental cleaning and specialized projectbased work, including terminal cleaning, deep cleaning, and renovation support.

  • Knowledge of advanced infectionprevention and safety standards, including Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulatory expectations.

  • Skill in performing quality rounding, documenting cleaning effectiveness, and conducting QC inspections to ensure compliance with departmental and regulatory standards.

  • Skill in training, coaching, and providing handson instruction in cleaning methods, equipment operation, and chemical and safety procedures.

  • Ability to coordinate daily workflow, including confirming staffing, assigning work, distributing equipment, and ensuring operational readiness.

  • Ability to receive, prioritize, and delegate service calls to maintain efficient departmental operations.

  • Skill in responding to service issues, providing service recovery, and escalating concerns appropriately.

  • Skill in operating and maintaining specialized floorcare equipment, including burnishers, buffers, autoscrubbers, carpet extractors, and performing advanced procedures such as stripping, waxing, sealing, burnishing, and grout restoration.

  • Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and report repair needs for EVS equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation.

  • Ability to support supply chain readiness, including monitoring stock levels, organizing materials, and ensuring staff have required resources.

  • Skill in investigating escalated concerns, including cleaningquality issues, and reporting findings to leadership.

  • Ability to coordinate workflow support at the unit level, such as assisting with coverage needs and break assignments.

  • Ability to maintain professionalism and model departmental expectations for conduct, safety, attendance, and dress code.

  • Ability to participate in quality improvement and continuous improvement initiatives related to cleanliness, workflow, or patient experience.
