OHS Supervisor - Day Shift:(Shift Hours: 7am-4pm) Guides the day-to-day operations of the Occupational Health Services team while providing nursing health services within scope of practice for licensure and in accordance with protocols. Supervises all services and medical programs, including employment physical processes, clinical services for injury prevention and treatment, and Workers Compensation coordination. Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations and maintains vigilance in OSHA regulated actions, information, and occasional treatment.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health

  • Basic leadership skills with the ability to coach, support, and motivate a team

  • Solid communication, presentation, and collaboration skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to support the development of strategic solutions to business needs

  • Good critical thinking skills with the ability to use forward-thinking approaches in routine problem[1]solving

  • Skilled at evaluating, interpreting, and utilizing basic data to inform direction

  • Strong computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Suite, HRIS/SAP, etc.)

  • Ability to address issues, questions and concerns, and respond with urgency to address team member health needs

  • Ability to use good judgment and tact in the application of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

  • Ability to prioritize deliverables and shift priorities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the day-to-day activities of a small team of clinical individual contributors. Provides guidance, coaching, and support to ensure successful completion of tasks.

  • Participates in HR activities such as hiring, termination, performance management, goal setting, team member development, scheduling, etc. Enforces systems, policies, and procedures.

  • Supports the implementation of policies and practices to ensure high quality care and support of team members' occupational health needs.

  • Responsible for providing and overseeing complete and comprehensive workplace injury care, pre-employment physical examinations, incident investigations, and documenting findings in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

  • Accurately assesses team members who are present for treatment and initiates appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic measures and referrals according to protocol.

  • Coordinates team member injury management process with Butterball's third-party insurance administrator and manage return to work and temporary transitional work assignments.

  • Serves as liaison with medical claims adjusters, medical providers, and/or counsel for workers' compensation.

  • Provides guidance in routine matters of Occupational Health and Safety, Workers' Compensation, and any other relevant areas of occupational medicine.

  • Prepares and delivers routine reports, such as monthly statistics on patient interactions and exposure/screening of team members seen in the employee health clinic.

  • Participate in various committees (i.e., local Safety committee, companywide Safety, Health and Risk Management committees, etc.) and/or projects and initiatives (i.e., flu shot clinics, health screening, stress management workshops, etc.).

  • Ensures compliance with all company policies, expectations, and regulatory policies and guidelines (i.e., HIPAA, ADA, and recordkeeping).

  • Promotes safety and health to all team members by educating team members on protocols, injury prevention, ergonomics, and wellness programs. Collaborates cross-functionally to promote health programs and occupational health compliance

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent (i.e., Occupational Health and Safety Sciences)

  • Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED

  • Experience working in Safety and/or Occupational Health Services

  • Workers' Compensation Experience

Education & Experience:

  • Current** RN license and 1+ year of direct experience or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role

  • Will consider current LPN license with additional experience**

  • 1+ year of leadership experience or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role

Physical Demands:

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate equipment, computer, telephone, keyboard, and occasionally climb and lift to or about 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

  • Work will be performed in a variety of conditions. Occasionally in a climate-controlled office environment(s) and primarily in a manufacturing plant environment with varying conditions, such as cold areas, wet areas, warm areas, chemicals, and other site conditions.
  • This position requires the individual to wear and work in personal protective equipment while in the manufacturing environment.
  • The noise level of the office environment is usually moderate; the noise level in the manufacturing environment may exceed 85 DBA and require hearing protection.
    Occasional travel may be required.
