Genesis10 is currently seeking an Application Programmer with our client in the financial industry located in Chicago, IL. This is a 12+ month contract position.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to end user requests and issues
  • Manage application platform monitoring and support, root cause analysis and preventative actions to ensure stability resiliency across all services
  • Lead incident problem management activities, onboard new applications and effectively communicate to stakeholders for back-office Settlements Messaging (SWIFT) and other trading applications as part of a global production services team
  • Run the day-to-day operations of the technology platform
  • Work activities specific to production services roles include problem/incident management, change management, release/deployment, operational readiness, capacity/availability management, application monitoring, service analytics and reporting, production governance, triage, associate support, change/configuration management, vendor engagements
  • Gatekeeper and governor for all production change related activities/releases as well as team processes and procedures
  • Participate with management discussions in the development of technology products, service standards and development efforts that impact the client/business area
  • Serve as an escalation point between the client/business area and internal management for the resolution of moderately complex unresolved problems, complaints, and service requests
  • Responsible for team triaging, vendor engagements, and troubleshooting
  • Provide the client areas with technology products and service alternatives that improve the production services environment
  • Monitor performance of the application, provide support to the application's business users and perform troubleshooting, analysis, research, and resolution using advanced query and programming skills
  • Identify possible production failure scenarios, create incident tickets in ticket tracking system, and communicate effectively with development and internal business operations teams
  • Identify vulnerabilities and opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain metrics and develop analysis to improve all areas of production services
  • Enhance administrative, operational, and technical policies and procedures, and adopt best practice guidelines
  • Participate in the development of new technology products and services, including analytical, technical, and administrative work as well as installation
  • Consult with end users to determine optimal configuration of equipment and applications
  • Serve as an escalation point between the client/business area and internal management for the resolution of technical problems and service requests
  • Provide the client areas with technology products and service alternatives that improve the production services environment

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in application support/development, ensuring stability for critical trading platforms in a global, team-oriented environment
  • Experience with distributed application platforms: Windows, UNIX, LINUX, SQL
  • Ability to lead triage and solve production outage situations under tight deadlines, including root cause and problem resolution follow-ups
  • Experienced on monitoring tools such as ITRS Geneos, Splunk, Dynatrace
  • Knowledge of Equities asset class and related trade processing flows
  • Programming skills: Python, Unix/scripting, Java
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of ITIL SDLC principles and execution
  • Experience in coordinating with offshore/onshore support, business, vendor, and infrastructure partners
  • Hands on experience providing direct support to front/back office trading applications
  • Results oriented, must be able to effectively collaborate with senior management and business partners to find solutions
  • Good knowledge of the Global Markets technology ecosystem, strong technical skills (e.g. Splunk and Dynatrace) as well as global markets equities domain understanding
  • Able to conduct independent research as well as collaborate with SMEs
  • Strong knowledge in ITIL (certification is a differential); JIRA
  • Scripting languages: Python, Perl, Unix Shell
  • Operating systems: Solaris, Linux, Windows
  • SQL / PLSQL (Intermediate level: multi-table joins, grouping results, etc.)
  • Well-rounded understanding of infrastructure disciplines (network, server, storage, messaging)
  • Autosys, Ansible XLR, Grafana, IBM WebSphere MQ
  • Tibco, Cloud, IBM OpenShift

Pay range: $58.26 - $66.26
