Job Description




As a Security Officer - Shelter Patrol in Brooklyn, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal, you will monitor and patrol designated shelter locations, helping to deter security-related incidents while maintaining a visible presence. You will provide outstanding customer service, support access control, and communicate professionally with staff and residents. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients and residents by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within the shelter environment.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, supporting the well-being of individuals at the location.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the shelter and its perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and/or identify potential concerns.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of observations, incidents, and activities during each shift as required by Allied Universal and site protocols.
  • Communicate professionally with residents, staff, and visitors while upholding site-specific rules and guidelines.
  • Assist with access control and monitor entry and exit points to help to deter unauthorized individuals from entering the premises.
  • Remain alert to environmental conditions and report any hazards or maintenance needs encountered during patrols.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
  • A state, county, or city issued security license is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Access control or badge experience is preferred.
  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
