Overview

William Charles Construction, a MasTec Company, is hiring for an experienced Chief Estimator with extensive estimating background with heavy civil, highways and roadways.

Civil Heavy Highway Estimator duties include providing accurate takeoff and cost estimates for heavy highway roadway including earthwork, aggregates, underground and paving.

**This position is ideally based in one of our local offices: Rockford IL, Indianapolis IN or Springfield, IL.

Responsibilities

    Tracking of internal / external projects or client opportunities and pulling together the monthly opportunities (pipeline) report.
  • Oversee / support / perform RFP responses to include:
    • Estimating
    • Project schedule submittals
    • Work with Power Group Director of Operations to develop project plan RFP submittals
    • Procurement of materials
  • Oversee / support / perform project controls to include:
    • All Estimating functions
    • All scheduling functions
    • All project tracking, change management
    • All development / issuance / tracking / responses related to project submittals
    • Support / track invoice development by Operations department


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Construction Management and related field experience
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in heavy civil estimating. A combination of equivalent education and work experience may be considered
  • Extensive experience with earthwork and underground is required, PCC paving and concrete knowledge is a plus

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Highly knowledgeable in earthwork, underground drainage, sewer, watermain and general roadway construction.
  • Precise attention to details and exceptionally organized
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Must be capable managing time for self and ability to prioritize and schedule efficiently
  • Limited travel will be required for pre-bids, site walks, owner meetings, home office, etc.
  • Thrive in fast-paced environment with ability to deliver under deadlines
  • Proficient in Bid2Win or similar estimating software and exceptional Microsoft Office skills; Primavera P6,
  • Bluebeam and AutoCad experience is a plus
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
