Position Summary
The Commodity Procurement Specialist is responsible for implementing commodity strategies that ensure a stable, cost-efficient, and sustainable material supply. This role supports the adoption and consistent use of globally standardized procurement methods, systems, and processes to drive high process efficiency, transparency, and compliance. The position contributes directly to measurable cost savings, supplier performance improvements, and effective alignment with internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Commodity Strategy & Execution
  • Implement commodity strategies to secure long-term, cost-effective supply of assigned materials, semi-products, or services.
  • Analyze regional/global suppliers, markets, and cost drivers for non-critical to moderately complex commodities.
  • Identify internal customer needs and collaborate with Sales Management or technical Project Managers to review and clarify technical specifications.
Procurement Process & Compliance
  • Ensure consistent application of global procurement methodologies, P2P (Purchase-to-Pay) processes, procurement guidelines, and relevant IT systems.
  • Support process improvements to enhance efficiency, transparency, and compliance.
Supplier Negotiation & Cost Savings
  • Prepare and conduct negotiations to achieve optimal commercial outcomes.
  • Document, implement, and communicate cost savings to support business targets.
  • Contribute to cost-reduction initiatives and make results visible across the organization.
Supplier Management
  • Execute supplier qualification, selection, evaluation, classification, and development activities.
  • Perform project-specific supplier evaluations and provide timely supplier information to support project teams.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work closely with internal requisitioners and project teams to ensure high-quality customer service and early procurement involvement.
  • Provide functional guidance to operational staff or junior colleagues as needed.
Key Competencies & Knowledge Requirements
  • Solid professional expertise in a Procurement/Commodity Management Sub-Job Family, supported by both practical experience and theoretical grounding.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to prepare and execute structured negotiations.
  • Proficiency in supplier management principles and procurement compliance.
  • Ability to analyze technical specifications and engage effectively with technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Competent in procurement IT tools, data analysis, and standardized procurement processes.
  • Capable of applying knowledge in a broader business context and contributing to process optimization.

  • Contributes to business results through process execution, solution development, and cost savings.
  • Typically provides functional insights to others and integrates work with that of semi-professional team members.
