Summary

Manages specialized and complex, high-impact projects. This may include single large projects, multiple smaller projects, or portions of major programs. Responsible for developing and overseeing project plans that align with business, production, and organizational priorities. Creates integrated solutions to strategic issues and presents clear recommendations to customers. Solutions are based on professional experience, sound judgment, and collaboration with internal and external experts. May also lead proposal efforts for small to medium projects.

Purpose

Provides leadership and project oversight to ensure successful completion of work in alignment with contractual commitments. Defines project goals and establishes effective methods to achieve them. Develops a strong understanding of customer objectives, contract requirements, and organizational policies. Plans, organizes, and controls projects according to approved processes, procedures, systems, and standards. Leads project personnel through direct and indirect supervision. Demonstrates leadership skills required to meet project goals and promote team success.

  • Assigns tasks, provides technical guidance, and oversees work for medium and large projects.

  • Reviews deliverables for technical accuracy and completeness.

  • May have direct or indirect reports and may participate in performance evaluations, hiring recommendations, and training.

  • Effectively leads multidisciplinary and geographically distributed project teams.

  • Addresses performance challenges constructively and promptly.

  • Ensures effective communication tools and processes are used across the team.

  • Builds support for ideas and presents well-reasoned alternatives and recommendations.

Technical Expertise
  • Ensures that organizational methodologies, processes, tools, and systems are consistently applied.

  • Applies broad understanding of engineering, procurement, quality, and construction workflows to guide successful execution.

  • Ensures compliance with customer Basis of Design, codes, and regulations.

  • Demonstrates high attention to detail.

  • Understands engineering project delivery and coordination requirements.

  • Possesses experience with procurement, subcontracting, and field-based construction support.

  • Has overseen a full project life cycle from initial design through field implementation.

Financial Acumen
  • Applies thorough understanding of customer contracts when planning and executing project work.

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of business drivers and financial reporting.

  • Tracks cost and schedule performance and uses analytical skills to identify trends.

  • Reviews and analyzes project quantities and deliverables.

  • Understands cost buildup and factors that affect margin, along with opportunities for improvement.

  • Ensures effective use of change-control processes.

  • Manages cash flow, accounts receivable, and work-in-progress to minimize DSO.

Execution Planning & Performance
  • Develops or reviews Project Execution Plans across all project aspects.

  • Applies lessons learned to improve execution.

  • Oversees execution, coordination, and regular progress reviews.

  • Interprets Project Control Reports and implements corrective actions when needed.

  • Understands key schedule elements and resource needs.

  • Incorporates Value Creation and Sustainable Solutions into planning and delivery.

  • Handles workshare execution successfully.

Communication & Networking
  • Communicates effectively and leads preparation of proposals, presentations, and reports.

  • Implements clear communication protocols and tools.

  • Ensures the project team understands requirements, expectations, KPIs, and project status.

  • Fosters a culture of open communication, trust, and mutual respect.

  • Supports conflict resolution and issue management with customers and internal teams.

  • Builds strong relationships across levels, disciplines, and geographic locations.

  • Works collaboratively to achieve shared goals.

Customer & Stakeholder Management
  • Understands key customer drivers and KPIs.

  • Builds and manages relationships with customers and key stakeholders.

  • Maintains trust by communicating progress, challenges, and solutions transparently.

  • Aligns communication with agreed-upon protocols and expectations.

Risk & Opportunity Management
  • Understands contractual, commercial, and legal risks and develops mitigation strategies.

  • Identifies new and emerging risks and updates mitigation plans accordingly.

  • Follows organizational risk management processes.

  • Maintains an up-to-date risk register and communicates risks regularly.

  • Uses the risk register to support contingency planning.


What You Will Bring

Technical/Industry Experience and Qualification Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience leading medium and large projects with varying risk levels.

  • Ability to work effectively in diverse, multicultural, and multinational environments.

  • Strong understanding of field systems, processes, and tools; able to support others and troubleshoot issues.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.

  • Able to organize and manage complex information in line with established formats and policies.

  • May contribute to the development of new processes, systems, and tools.

Additional Information
  • Projects managed in this role are usually medium or large in scale.

  • Risk levels typically fall within the moderate to high range, excluding specific SR categories defined by internal classification.

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training Required
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Experience with gas-fired power generation projects.

  • Typically 15+ years of experience, including 12+ years in supervisory, project management, and/or technical roles.

  • Experience with workshare environments and E/EP projects.

  • Experience with EPCM and EPC project delivery, including on-site assignments.

  • Experience with Microsoft Access and Visio is beneficial.

Preferred
  • Professional registration in the local jurisdiction.

  • Project/program management certification (e.g., IPMA, APM, PMI, AIPM).
