Job Summary

The Electrical Service Technician supports the safe and reliable operation of electrical systems across a major hospital network and one of the largest healthcare systems in Texas. This role is ideal for a developing technician with at least two years of commercial electrical experience who wants to grow their skills in a high-impact, mission-critical environment.

Technicians in this role work alongside another senior electrician and hospital facilities teams to maintain compliance, respond to service needs, and help ensure uninterrupted patient care.


Essential Duties

  • Assist with troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems in active hospital environments

  • Support senior technicians during service calls, inspections, and preventive maintenance

  • Perform basic electrical work on:

    • Lighting systems and controls

    • Panels, circuits, and branch wiring

    • Receptacles, switches, and low-voltage systems

  • Follow established procedures for working near live electrical systems

  • Observe and support Man-in-Attendance (MIA) activities as required

  • Respond to service requests and minor electrical issues in a timely manner

  • Maintain accurate service documentation and logs required by healthcare facilities

  • Adhere strictly to safety standards including NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and hospital policies

  • Maintain a clean, professional demeanor and work area at all times


Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of commercial or industrial electrical experience

  • Electrical apprentice license required

  • Basic knowledge of NEC and electrical safety practices

  • Strong willingness to learn healthcare electrical standards and systems

  • Able to follow direction and work effectively in occupied, patient-care environments

  • Good communication skills and professionalism

  • Ability to pass background checks and health system onboarding requirements

Work Environment
  • Active hospital and medical facilities

  • High-visibility environments requiring attention to detail and professionalism

  • Occasional after-hours, weekend, or on-call work as needed

  • Physical ability to stand, bend, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs
