This position is located on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. It is an unaccompanied position (no family accommodations or pets). Benefits of this unique location include free housing, three meals a day and potential for U.S. overseas tax incentives.

Essential Functions

  • Operate, maintain, upgrade and troubleshoot high power transmitters, antennas, pedestals, electronic controls, and a variety of other technical equipment located on Kwajalein and Roi-Namur in the tropical Marshall Islands and the ship, USAV Worthy.
  • Support rocket and missile launches and tests from Kwajalein and the USAV Worthy.
  • Participate or lead troubleshooting efforts, fault detection, fault isolation, repair, testing and documenting findings.
  • Additional responsibilities may include assisting other organizations, including telemetry, communications systems, radios, networks, power, marine and facilities.
  • Periodically perform activities at sea and on towers and elevated structures.
  • Assist in RF safety surveys and measurements. Help analyze the results and report the findings.
  • Contribute to tasks related to property, calibration, secure room, COMSEC, and other duties related to supporting the team and mission.

Essential Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Teams). Ability to manipulate data in MS excel and document procedures in reports in MS Word,
  • Understanding of basic RF and electronic theory such as solid-state transmitters/amplifiers, satellite communications, telemetry, radios or radar systems.
  • Ability to use spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, RF power meters, and/or RF network analyzers.
  • Ability to solder, make cables, and replace defective hardware.
  • Good oral and written communication skills with ability to document results and author procedures and manuals.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work independently with little oversight.
  • Function as part of a team and follow established processes.
  • Ability to climb towers and lift heavy equipment.
  • Ability to travel to neighboring islands via helicopter and small plane.
  • Ability to work on a ship and go to sea, desired.

Required Experience

  • Associate degree in electronics or related field, or related technical school, apprenticeship or equivalent military experience in electronics, RF or related fields.
  • Two (2) years' or more of technical work experience.
  • Experience working on complex technical systems such as avionics, communications, radars, and control systems desired.
  • Experience with software or firmware design and testing, networks, IT, or computer system administration desired.
  • Experienced at building and/or terminating high power or RF cables with BNC, N type, LMR, heliax or similar connectors desired.
  • Experience soldering desired.
  • Exposure to or certifications in Security+, Linux+, Network+, CCENT, and/or CCNA desired.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport.
  • Ability to pass a sea worthiness physical.
  • Willingness and physical ability to work aboard a ship at-sea for multiple weeks at a time.
  • Physical ability to move equipment and racks. Ability to push/pull/lift up to 40 lbs. unassisted, and up to a 120-pound items with other team members.
  • Physical ability to fit and fly in a helicopter and small aircraft. Must have a waist circumference of 42" or less to ride in helicopters.
  • Physical ability to climb stairs and towers up to 100' with appropriate PPE and training.
  • This position is unaccompanied.
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
