Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Public Affairs (PA) Specialist, supporting Test Operations and Sustainment (TOS) efforts, at Arnold Air Force Base (AFB), TN. The PA Specialist will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for developing written and visual products in support of the Air Force's PA mission across Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC).

Open to internal and external candidates.

Job Summary

The Public Affairs Specialist has the primary responsibility of supporting Air Force Public Affairs mission and objectives at Arnold AFB, TN, by producing written and visual products, which may include development of news releases, photos, graphics, or videos. Additionally, the Public Affairs Specialist will assist in the Public Affairs Tour Coordinator in support of the Arnold AFB Tour program.

Job Duties:

    Produce news stories and/or press releases - technical, human interest, feature, public service announcements - as required in support of Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) activities.
  • Follow Associated Press and Air Force style guides.
  • Follow established security clearance and release review processes.
  • Review and edit news stories and/or press releases written by co-workers.
  • Produce and edit content for other AEDC and Arnold AFB publications, e.g., fact sheets, brochures, and other special publications.
  • Produce high quality, professional photos to document AEDC and Arnold AFB events, occasions, and other activities and write captions to accompany photos.
  • Support the Arnold AFB Tour program by assisting the Tour Coordinator to solicit tour participation, coordinating tour requirements, developing tour agendas, and serving as a tour guide when required.
  • Support Arnold AFB Disaster and Emergency Response - real world and simulated exercises.
  • Produce content for use on the AEDC website and social media platforms.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree in communications, public relations, journalism, photojournalism, or a similar related field with at least 1-3 years of experience in both writing and photography.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and the AEDC local area network.
  • Current U. S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong public speaking skills.
  • Understanding and knowledge of developing content for websites and social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of cameras and photos composition skills.
  • Understanding and knowledge of graphic design and video content development.
  • Knowledge, understating, and experience using Adobe Creative Suite programs, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, and Bridge.
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to unanticipated changes.
  • Ability to multi-task and deal tactfully with a wide variety of customers.
  • Ability to adapt to a challenging environment, manage changing expectations, and handle sometimes stressful situations.
  • Experience fostering teamwork.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be willing to take on a variety of assignments.
  • Ability to work independently or in a group setting.
  • Active secret clearance
