We are affiliated with the US Oncology Network, which is one of the nation's largest networks of integrated, community-based oncology practices that are dedicated to advancing high-quality, evidence-based cancer care. Our board-certified physicians in Hematology and Medical Oncology, Palliative Care Medicine, and breast surgery have trained and held faculty positions in nationally and internationally recognized academic centers. Our physicians have extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of malignant diseases and disorders of the blood and breast.

We have an opening for a Patient Account Specialist I.

Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.


Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Performs audits of patient accounts to ensure accuracy and timely payment.
-Reviews account agings on a monthly basis and reports inconsistencies and corrects errors as appropriate.
-Contacts patients regarding delinquent accounts and arranges mutually acceptable payment schedules.
-Follows up on insurance billing to ensure timely receipt of payments. Demonstrates the ability to deal with patients and insurance companies regarding sensitive financial matters and recapture unpaid balances.
-Receives and resolves patient billing complaints and questions; initiates adjustments as necessary. Reviews credit balance reports for correct recipient of refund.
-Attaches documentation and forwards to supervisor to process refund checks.
-Identifies problems on accounts and follows through to conclusion.
-Responds to insurance companies requests for information in a prompt and professional manner.
-Makes appropriate financial arrangements for payment of patient accounts; follows up to determine if payment arrangements are being met; contacts patients to resolve problems; responds to correspondence or telephone calls from patients about accounts.
-Works closely with collection agency to assure that they receive updated information on accounts as necessary.
-Processes insurance/patient correspondence, including denial follow-up within 48 hours of receipt. Files all reimbursement correspondence daily.
-Maintains confidentiality in regards to patient account status and the financial affairs of clinic/corporation.

-All other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school graduate or equivalent required. Minimum three years experience in a medical business office setting with insurance processing and balancing responsibilities.

Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for prolonged periods of time.
