The Reston Community Center seeks a highly motivated individual who can easily multi-task and take the initiative to navigate and implement improved processes and procedures. This position oversees the management of all scheduling, rentals, and maintenance for both the Hunters Woods and Lake Anne locations. Key responsibilities include supervising staff, establishing performance targets, preparing and executing annual budgets within county guidelines, and ensuring smooth coordination of all facility projects to minimize disruption. The position also manages risk, safety, and security protocols, and acts as a liaison with various county departments.

- Contracts Management
- Vehicular Maintenance
Salary: The starting salary for this position may not exceed the midpoint rate ($83,310.03) of the advertised pay grade. Promotional rules apply for current Fairfax County Government and Fairfax County Public Schools employees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following: (Click on the aforementioned link to learn how Fairfax County interprets equivalencies for "Any combination, experience, and training equivalent to") Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in recreation and park management, therapeutic recreation, or other closely related field; plus two years of progressively responsible experience in park or recreation services related work, as applicable to the position.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Valid driver's license
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position is considered "essential personnel" and will be required to report to work during times designated countywide as approved for unscheduled leave regardless of the emergency situation (i.e., weather, transportation, other disaster).
- Additional Work Schedule Requirements: Hours will vary and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- The appointee to the position will be required to complete the following to the satisfaction of the employer:
- Criminal Background Investigation
- Child Protective Services Registry Check
- Driving Record Check
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's or higher in recreation, park management, therapeutic recreation, or closely related field.
- Experience in large facility management and related planning.
- Experience overseeing facility rentals in a community center.
- Progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience working in community recreation center or recreation administration.
- Experience working with contracted service providers.
- Experience working through partnerships and collaborating to provide programs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Visual acuity is required to read data on computer monitor. Incumbent must have the ability to operate keyboard driven equipment and communicate with others. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Panel interview and may include a practical exercise.
