Pay Range: $162,000 - $180,000

Summary:

This position is responsible for the planning, organizing, development, and evaluation of the overall operation of Nursing Services in accordance with the current state and federal regulations for assisted living facilities. This position maintains current standards of nursing practice and implements facility policies, procedures, and management systems. Additionally, it coordinates nursing services with community agencies, physicians, families, residents, consultants, ancillary service providers, and other department personnel within the facility and promotes quality resident care delivery by all providers and assures regulatory compliance related to nursing issues in the Skilled Nursing Facility.

Detailed responsibilities:
* Director of Nursing (DON)
- Direct a comprehensive clinical program that aligns with the needs and preferences of the residents of the community.
- Assess the physical, mental, and social needs of residents and create personalized wellness plans to support their overall well-being.
- Coordinate and supervise a team of nurses, therapists, and activity coordinators, etc. providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality care and services.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as dining services and housekeeping, to create an integrated approach to resident care.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of clinical programs, making necessary adjustments and improvements based on feedback and resident outcomes.
- Direct and supervise utilization of Medicare, Medi-Cal and other insurance contracts.
- Participate in budget planning and monitoring of fee scheduling and charging for services and cost-effective utilization of resources.
- Foster a culture of wellness throughout the community, engaging residents, families, and staff in meaningful and enjoyable activities.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to resident care and wellness and oversee facility infection control program.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, and healthcare professionals in the community.
- Assume a proactive role in resolving resident issues & concerns related to assigned areas of responsibility.
- Works closely with Quality Assurance and consultants to provide geriatric health programs and services.
- Stay current with industry trends, research, and best practices in senior wellness, incorporating innovative approaches into our programs.
- Ensure the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) meets staffing requirements to adequately address resident needs.
- Manage relationships with vendors, including lab, imaging, pharmacies, and physicians, to ensure quality services for residents.
- Serve as a liaison to the Medical Director, facilitating communication and collaboration on resident care.
- Oversee infection control, employee health, staff development, and Minimum Data Set (MDS) processes of the SNF.
- Ensure that labor is managed within budget, reducing overtime, missed meals, and overspending on labor and operational costs.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Credentials:
Essential:
* Registered Nurse - California

Education with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* High School diploma or GED
Nonessential:
* Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or 4 Years job experience as long term care, geriatric and/or rehabilitative nurse with specialization in the field of work in a Skilled Nursing Facility

Experience with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* 3 Years supervisory experience
* 3 Years job experience as with knowledge of State and Federal regulations with specialization in the field of work in a Skilled Nursing Facility
Nonessential:
* 3 Years job experience as long term care, geriatric and/or rehabilitative nurse with specialization in the field of work in a Skilled Nursing Facility

Working conditions:
Essential:
* Must frequently move items weighing up to 40 pounds across the office or facility for various needs
* Must be able to frequently move about inside the facility to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
* Must be able to constantly move to position yourself to conduct essential job functions when working with residents and their specific therapy needs
* Must be able to remain in a stationary position 20% of the time
* Must be able to constantly operate a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer to perform the essential functions of the job
* Must occasionally ascend/descend stairs to provide essential services
* Must have the ability to succinctly communicate information and ideas so others will understand accurately exchanged information
* Must have the ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
* Must consistently work in an office and assisted living facility-type atmosphere
