| Position Description: |
The Vidal Lab in the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, Department of Operative Dentistry, is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Scholar to conduct research in Pulp Biology and Cariology. The successful candidate will work on projects investigating dentin changes/degradation and dental pulp stem cell responses during caries progression. Current research includes experiments assessing gene and protein expression changes in cells and biological tissues. Responsibilities include:
- Designing and conducting research projects and experiments
- Analyzing and interpreting data and results
- Optimizing protocols
- Writing manuscripts, abstracts, and progress reports
- Presenting findings at conferences, seminars, and workshops
The Postdoctoral Research Scholar will also collaborate with students and researchers, providing mentorship to other team members. Additional responsibilities include assisting with lab operations, budget management, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. Initial term of appointment is one year; may be extended if funding is available and satisfactory progress is made.Postdoctoral Research Scholars (FP01) are temporary, at will appointments at The University of Iowa. | Education Requirement: |
- Ph.D. in health sciences or a related field
|
| Required Qualifications: |
- Proficiency in molecular and cell biology techniques, including:
- Cell culture
- RT-qPCR
- ELISA
- SDS-PAGE
- Immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, or microscopy imaging
- Basic knowledge of microbiology.
- Experience with animal models, specifically rodents, including animal husbandry.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience working independently and collaboratively.
- A publication record with at least one first-author research article in a peer-reviewed journal and presentations at scientific conferences.

| Desirable Qualifications: |
- Experience with mineralized tissues (bone or dentin).
- Background in biomaterials or tissue engineering.
- Experience with data analysis and bioinformatics for genomic or proteomic datasets.
