Job Summary
Under the supervision of a Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor supervises, coordinates, and organizes the day-to-day pharmacy technician activities in their assigned area of pharmacy. Under the manager, helps to provide oversight and development of data-driven quality assurance for all covered pharmacy areas. Responsible for the scheduling, competency, evaluation, corrective action when necessary and training of pharmacy technicians. Oversees the provision of safe, effective, and efficient technical aspects of pharmacy services including but not limited to: medication procurement, storage, security, preparation and distribution. Participates and coordinates the recruitment, selection, hiring, and evaluation of pharmacy technicians. Ensures that assigned personnel demonstrate a level of competence, professionalism, and customer service as defined and required by job performance standards and pharmacy professional practice. Ensures that all duties are performed in accordance with all applicable Federal and State laws, applicable regulatory bodies, and policies and procedures of the organization and the pharmacy department.
Essential Functions:
- Oversees the daily duties of all technicians assigned and supervises technicians in the routine performance of their duties (5%)
- Organizes and prioritizes the department's workload and collaborates with pharmacy leadership and the department to effectively manage daily operations (5%)
- Ensures all legal and professional pharmacy requirements are adhered to (5%)
- Maintains the secure storage of pharmaceuticals in the pharmacy and drug storage areas (5%)
- Supports pharmacy leadership and responds positively to decisions, which affect department operations, scheduling and workload (5%)
- Coordinates and directs the technician support to pharmacists in the processing of medication orders and dispensing of medications (5%)
- Prepares various reports and maintains records as requested by pharmacy leadership (5%)
- Collaborate with pharmacy leadership, nurses, and providers to improve patient outcomes and quality metrics in specialized areas of pharmacy practice (5%)
- Oversees the orientation, training, competency development, and continuous proficiency of employees in all assigned areas of pharmacy practice (5%)
- Leads and participates in the pharmacy technician candidate hiring process (5%)
- Completes assigned staff member performance appraisals (5%)
- Responsible for pharmacy technician accountability-based performance process (5%)
- Oversees timekeeping and productivity for assigned staff and addresses variances to expectations according to system and departmental policies (5%)
- Complies with established departmental and DHHA policies and procedures, mission, values, code of conduct, quality improvement, infection control, and safety initiatives (5%)
- Develops and maintains established departmental standard work (5%)
- Supports the pharmacy leadership team in the management of controlled substance inventory in accordance with all State and Federal laws, departmental policies and applicable regulatory bodies (5%)
- Delivers positive customer service and following up in customer complaints (5%)
- Redirects and prioritizes work assignments to assure mission accomplishment (5%)
- Attends and participates and/or leads departmental meetings, in-services, huddles, and departmental trainings as applicable (5%)
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned (5%)
Education:
- Post High School Diploma or Certificate Program Required
Work Experience:
- 1-3 years Three (3) year of pharmacy technician experience, required
Required and - 4-6 years Five (5) years of pharmacy technician experience, preferred
and
Licenses:
- CPHT-Certified Pharmacy Technician - PTCB - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Required and
- PBID-Pharmacy Based Immunization Delivery - ACPE-Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education Required and
- BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Knowledge of prescription processing and third-party billing, if applicable

Salary $61,000.00 - $91,500.00 / yr
