Role Description:

As a Project Management Intern, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening ASTM International's internal project management framework for the Advanced Manufacturing Division. This internship goes beyond administrative support, and you will actively contribute to the design, improvement, and automation of processes that align diverse stakeholders across engineering, legal, compliance, and accounting.

You will gain hands-on experience in both the strategic and operational aspects of project management. On the strategic side, you'll help standardize workflows and create templates that ensure consistency across departments. On the operational side, you'll build dashboards and reporting tools that provide real-time visibility into project health, KPIs, and resource allocation.

This role is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, can work independently (at times), detail-oriented, analytical, eager to learn, and comfortable asking questions relating to project management functions at the intersection of multiple disciplines. You will be exposed to the challenges of coordinating across international borders, technical and non-technical teams, and you'll develop skills in process optimization, stakeholder communication, and data-driven decision-making.

Learning Objectives:

General Responsibilities:

* Stakeholder requirements: Distill conversations into concise requirements

* Process alignment: Ensure consistency and clarity in workflows that support ASTM's cross-functional teams.

* Template management: Review, update, and create project management templates to align stakeholders across engineering, legal, compliance, and accounting.

* Dashboard creation: Design and implement dashboards to monitor KPIs and automatically track project health.

* Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline reporting and enhance project visibility.

* Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and team leads to understand needs and deliver practical solutions.

Education:

Must be enrolled in a related Bachelor's degree program as a rising Junior or Senior at an accredited College or University.

Key Requirements & Competencies:

* Strong interest in data driven decisions, project management, operations, or business process improvement.

* Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Jira, Monday, Wrike, or similar).

* Basic knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or Excel dashboards).

* Excellent organizational and communication skills.

* Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent and close visual work at desk or computer.
  • Frequent sitting and working at desk.
  • Frequent verbal and written communication with team and other stakeholders by phone or video conferencing.

Time Requirements & Compensation:

  • Remote or Hybrid - 2/3 days in the West Conshohocken or Washington D.C Office
  • 35 hours per week, June through August.
  • Compensation: $18.00/Hour
