Please note: must be able to travel between San Francisco, Santa Clara and Sacramento. Duration through June 30, 2026; includes optional medical benefits, holiday pay and sick leave accrual.

Under the general supervision of the Deputy Director of the Training & Health Equity Collaborative (THE Collaborative), the Training Manager is responsible for the implementation of our training offerings pertaining to our Alameda County Training Academy scope. The Training Manager is a member of THE Collaborative's project management team and is responsible for developing, administrating, and managing specific training work in our group.

To support this high-profile portfolio of work, the Training Manager will be required to assist in the oversight of the training partners in their delivery of effective education, training, and capacity-building assistance programs. With guidance from the senior management team, this position will be the key liaison for our Alameda County Training Academy subject-matter expert bench requiring ongoing communication and excellent relationship management skills with program staff and faculty. The Training Manager will be responsible for identifying areas of support, providing guidance and technical assistance, and reviewing annual scopes of work and reports. They will implement the training and technical assistance plan for the Training Academy, including asynchronous and web-based learning projects. They will collaborate to prepare regular progress reports for funders and assist in competitive applications. They will develop collaborative relationships with staff within other training programs within THE Collaborative portfolio, UCSF, and the wider training and capacity-building assistance provider community.

Key Responsibilities:

Training Management:

* Oversee implementation of training deliverables, provide feedback and guidance to ensure work plans are consistent with overall program goals and objectives; provide technical assistance and support as needed, collaborate with subject-matter expert team in the development and implementation of the training modules, as well as policies, objectives, and strategies related to the Training Academy
* Develop and deliver training modules that support capacity-building activities of the Training Academy.
* Liaison with community-based partners, training partners, and collaborators such as Federal Training Centers, other training professionals, URM serving-organizations
* Provide guidance and support for a pool of subject matter experts who work with the Training Academy
* Review, analyze and provide feedback to trainers and subcontractors on their progress reports; consolidate and summarize progress reports
* Hold recurring calls with Training Academy partners
* Manage Training Academy technical assistance and training plan, including asynchronous webinar and technical assistance series
* Facilitate and participate in planning groups, convenings, webinars, meetings and conferences on behalf of THE Collaborative
* Assist senior management team in short-term and long-range training planning and objective setting for training portfolio

Training Administration:

* Participate as a member of the project management team, participate in vision, planning and monitoring activities for portfolio
* Review subject-matter subcontractor scopes of work for annual contracts and purchase orders
* Participate in monthly monitoring calls as needed
* Participate in the development of progress reporting for THE Collaborative
* Participate in the refinement of Training Academy implementation strategy
* Collaborate with program team to implement the social media strategy of the Training Academy

Training Evaluation:

* Provide assistance to THE Collaborative Evaluation Manager and Deputy Director in the implementation of an evaluation plan and needs assessment.
* Provide assistance re: needs assessment data reconciliation for program planning
* Participate in the analysis of training data in collaboration with the project management team to refine training goals and initiatives

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

Department Description

The Training & Health Equity Collaborative (THE Collaborative) is housed in the Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM), under the guidance of a senior management team. THE Collaborative is the administrative unit that has had domestic and international training grants and has been funded at the federal and state level as the prime recipient, as well as subcontracts from various universities and agencies. THE Collaborative's portfolio of programs includes the Pacific AIDS Education & Training Center, the West Region Care & Wellbeing Center, and the Alameda County Training Academy.

The Alameda County Training Academy supports capacity-building assistance efforts to improve coordination and strengthen client engagement in the provision of social services for people without housing and high utilizers of medical and behavioral health services. This program is administered through Managed Care Plans in Alameda County: Alameda Alliance for Health in partnership with Anthem Blue Cross, to support workforce development for whole person care within this East Bay County. This new training program builds upon UCSF's previous work with Alameda County as the Skills Development Unit for the state-funded Whole Person Care pilot. This new project focuses on CalAIM goals to provide capacity-building assistance and support to Enhanced Case Management and Community Support providers in this county.

Required Qualifications


  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing training programs

  • Associate's degree in a related field and/or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

  • Skill in using business software systems to complete work assignments, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Slack, and Outlook

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups to achieve results

  • Intermediate-to-advanced training skills, with a focus on the health and wellbeing of populations most impacted by systemic racism

  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external peers, managers, and community stakeholders

  • Intermediate-to-advanced proficiency with distance-based convening platforms, including webinar technologies, Zoom, and other virtual communication tools

  • Ongoing/continuing education in a related field

Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • Advanced degree in a related area (e.g., MPH, MPA, MHA) or equivalent advanced training/experience

  • Knowledge of the impact of chronic diseases such as HIV, diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic conditions

  • Knowledge of the statewide training landscape, including FQHCs and FQHC Training Centers

  • Experience working in multidisciplinary programs and/or community health care settings

  • Experience designing and implementing statewide training programs and/or chronic care training programs
