Utility Person- Maintenance - Asheville

Reports to: Maintenance Lead

Supervises: N/A

Summary Statement: Under the general supervision of the Plant Manager and the guidance of the Maintenance Lead, the employee in this position provides a variety of facility services following all established work and safety procedures.

Essential Job Functions

• Transport visually impaired/blind employees to work using the company van.
• Make bank deposits, pick up mail and run errands using the company van.
• Clean all offices, hallways and meeting rooms, including vacuuming, dusting and emptying trash.
• Clean and mop restrooms and assure they are stocked with soap, toilet paper and paper towels.
• Clean, mop and maintain production floor aisles, stripping, waxing and buffing as directed.
• Clean, mop and maintain cleanliness in the cafeteria.

Marginal Job Functions

• Assist other personnel as time and knowledge permit.
• Participate in training and meetings as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
• Must be able to bend, stoop and walk over a 10-hour period.
• Must wear personal protective equipment, such as clothing and gloves as necessary depending on the task being performed.
• Must be able to work planned and unplanned overtime.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Must be able to work professionally as part of a team with other department employees.
• Must be able to comprehend and perform duties using established work and safety procedures.
• Must have a valid driver's license and eligible to be covered by the company's insurance.
• Must be able to read instruction label on cleaning supplies.

Education and Work Experience

• Prior experience in a manufacturing facility is preferred.
