Overview

LMI is seeking a Senior R&D Program Consultant to support our DHS customer in the Washington D.C area. This position will support a variety of R&D and technical projects by providing scientific subject matter expertise, advancing project management tools and methods, improving processes to enhance mission delivery, interfacing and coordinating events with interagency partners, and developing reports and briefings for senior management initiatives. This position requires an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility. This position can be performed mostly remote but may need to go to client site in Washington, DC one day per week.

Responsibilities

    Provide scientific and technical expertise across a spectrum of Department-level R&D programs and projects
  • Provide high-level project management expertise to develop new tools, methods, and processes that strengthen meeting the Department's mission requirements
  • Serve as the key liaison for a chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) hazard awareness and characterization program; outputs support operators in making informed decisions to prevent, prepare for, mitigate, respond to, and recover from a CBRN event
  • Develop action plans and frameworks that align laboratory capabilities to identified DHS Component gaps/requirements
  • Establish performance metrics, compile data, and develop leadership-level reports and briefings that highlight value-added contributions in support of DHS mission requirements
  • Develop and maintain a broad, diverse network of relationships and contacts across research laboratory communities in government, academia, laboratory, international, and the private sector
  • Make recommendations for future lab capabilities to address emerging threats
  • Facilitate and coordinate planning, logistics, and execution for both virtual and in-person events, meetings, and outreach initiatives
  • Conduct research, data analysis, and project tracking to support program goals and strategic initiatives
  • Support development of customer requirements and related analyses
  • Support onboarding, mentoring, and engagement activities for intern programs, including conducting college outreach sessions


Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a scientific or technical field; biology is strongly preferred
  • At least ten years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience supporting federal government clients
  • PMP certification is preferred
  • Proficiency with the use of Microsoft 365 products including Office Suite, SharePoint, Visio, Teams, etc. A good understanding of the MS Power Platform and Generative AI tools is preferred.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external customers
  • Organization and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

Target salary range: $114,496 - $165,000
