The Senior Specialist of Student Affairsassistsportfolio and Cluster leadership by researching and synthesizing information and data to produce scholarly articles, background papers, presentations, talking points, and training materials on a wide varietyoftopicsrelatedtostudentaffairsinmedicaleducation.They

serveasatrusted resourceand content expert in student affairs initiatives, particularly medical student specialty choice and advising. The Senior Specialistis responsible forleading the implementation ofspecialty choice exploration initiativesand for building andmaintainingrelevant relationships with specialty leadership.They document their review of the latest research and report findings of relevance for the Cluster and synthesize information to produce presentations, talking points, reports, and newsletters on a variety of student affairs topics for Cluster leadership.

How will you make an impact?

Manage diverse teams to produce student affairs products and resources for multiple audiences:

  • Lead a matrixed team to produce new resource collections, white papers, and tools for audiences identified by the Cluster and/or portfolio leadership as high priority. For example, producing detailed content intended for medical students and advisors as they identify their specialty and apply for residency, and supporting the development of scholarly habits among student affairs administrators.

Work on behalf of Cluster leadership toproduce scholarly products in alignment with Cluster priorities:

  • Update shared slides, talking points, and other materials used by Cluster leadership to present existing Cluster work to diverse audiences.

  • Drawing on content expertise in student affairs, student services, advising, professional identity formation, and the transition to residency, develop new presentations, talking points, and materials aligned with the AAMC mission and Cluster goals.

Contribute to cross-cluster specialty choice exploration initiatives:

  • Contribute toacross-clustermatrixed team to implementspecialty choice exploration initiatives including maintaining relationships with specialty leadership.

Monitor the educational literature to identify emerging issues and innovations in student affairs, student services, advising, and transition to residency:

  • Utilizing a tracking mechanism, regularly review current student affairs articles, provide synthesized reviews of topics upon request from Cluster leadership. As appropriate, take action to address identified needs by hosting webinars, trainings, facilitating engagements, or developing materials that highlight emerging issues or innovations relevant to the community.

Serve as trusted resource and content expert in student affairs:

  • Respond to inquiries from colleagues in the Cluster and beyond, consult on student affairs projects, preparebriefs for leaders who speak with reporters about student affairs in medical education topics.

What will you bring to the role?

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

  • 5 - 7 years of related work experience in higher education, medical education, student affairs, and/or student advising, including experience with career advising.

  • Experience managing projects or coordinating across multiple teams or stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable materials for diverse audiences.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience producing reports, presentations, or web-based resources.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Experience in student affairs either at a medical school or related organization.

  • Working knowledge of student affairs, student services, or academic advising practices.

  • Familiarity with issues related to medical student development, specialty choice, and the transition to residency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading matrixed or cross-functional teams to produce scholarly or educational materials.

  • Demonstrated experience developing or maintaining online content, virtual learning materials, or training programs.

  • Experience collaborating with faculty, administrators, and national stakeholders on initiatives supporting medical student development or advising.

Remote Work Eligibility

This position is eligible for remote work in the contiguous US

Compensation Grade Range

$88,740.00-$104,400.00

Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors may include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, as well as internal equity, market, and business considerations.

If a bachelor's degree is required, related work experience may be substituted in some positions. One year of college course work at an accredited institution is equivalent to one year of related work experience.
