Supplier Quality Engineer - Vehicle Launch Programs (Onsite & Travel)


Advantage Technical is hiring a Supplier Quality Engineer to support vehicle program development and launch activities for a major OEM supplier across North American manufacturing plants. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong APQP and PPAP expertise who enjoys working cross-functionally, driving supplier performance, and supporting high-visibility vehicle launches.

Position Overview

In this role, you will interface closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Quality teams to lead supplier technical engineering activities throughout the program lifecycle. You will support program development and launch execution, lead APQP meetings, manage change control, and proactively monitor supplier deliverables to ensure timing, quality, and launch readiness.

You will act as a supplier advocate in cross-functional forums, driving engagement, identifying risks, and escalating issues as needed. Responsibilities include issue resolution using 8D, monitoring Quality Operating System (QOS) metrics, and providing onsite supplier and plant support as required. Travel to supplier locations and manufacturing sites is expected.

Key Responsibilities



  • Lead APQP and PPAP activities for vehicle launch programs
  • Drive supplier engagement, readiness, and performance
  • Manage change control, late starters, and design updates
  • Identify and manage New Tooled End Items (NTEIs), including multi-party agreements and directed Tier 2 suppliers
  • Develop and maintain program-specific NTEI files with part number data
  • Load, maintain, and update program information in the eAPQP system
  • Coordinate Schedule A submissions and obtain site codes from Program Purchasing




Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Proven experience with APQP, PPAP, problem solving, QOS, and 8D
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills




Preferred Experience



  • Manufacturing and Quality environments
  • Familiarity with JIRA
