Toolroom Supervisor - Automotive Manufacturing (Tooling & Cost Management)


Advantage Technical is hiring a Toolroom Supervisor to support a major automotive manufacturer known for complex, high-volume production and advanced manufacturing systems. This is a leadership opportunity for a tooling expert who thrives in new product launches, tool build management, and cost control within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Position Overview

The Toolroom Supervisor will lead the sourcing, development, build, and maintenance of production tooling, supporting both new product programs and existing operations. You will work closely with program teams, manufacturing, maintenance, and process specialists to ensure tooling meets performance, quality, timing, and cost objectives. This role plays a critical part in launch success, uptime, and long-term manufacturing efficiency.

Key Responsibilities





  • Manage new product tooling builds, specifications, and supplier sourcing
  • Develop and maintain tooling standards and documentation
  • Oversee tool design approvals, materials, and build timing against master schedules
  • Manage tooling changes, audits, and cost controls to ensure lowest total cost
  • Support preventive maintenance strategies and critical spare components
  • Interface with manufacturing to resolve processing and quality issues through tooling solutions
  • Maintain tool drawings, identification records, and spare part inventory systems
  • Support tool tryouts in partnership with Process Specialists to ensure performance and efficiency




Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in a Technical or Engineering discipline, OR Journeyman status with 5+ years manufacturing experience, OR 10+ years of technical/manufacturing experience
  • Strong knowledge of tooling, machining, and manufacturing processes
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and program timing
  • Advanced problem-solving, organization, and communication skills
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and interface with all plant levels
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Valid driver's license




Physical & Schedule Requirements



  • Ability to work any shift and overtime as required
  • Ability to stand for long periods, walk long distances, and lift up to 25 pounds
