Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

Position Summary
The certified nursing assistant at the Student Health Center functions as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team that provides direct patient care and clinical support in a variety of clinics:

  • Immunization Clinic
  • Medical Clinic
  • Sports Medicine clinic
  • Women's Health Clinic


Technical Knowledge - Obtain the following data for patients in the Women's Health Clinic (primary), Sports Medicine Clinic, Medical Clinic: Vital signs, patient chief concern, drug allergies, current medication, past Medical History, assist patient with completing the GYN Form, prepare patient for the gynecological examination or medical procedure, and enter information in computer-based information system.

Customer Service - Provide professional customer service to the UNCG Community, address patient concerns and requests in a timely and professional manner, assist with communicating patient needs to a multidisciplinary health care staff, nursing care provided must be communicated to the client prior to administration of the procedure, assist patients with navigating through the health clinic, provide professional phone etiquette.

Clinical Duties - Maintain infection control standards with cleaning and disinfecting equipment, use of appropriate protective equipment, follow established protocols, understand use of medical equipment, pulse oxManual and automated B/P machines, thermometers, wheelchairs, exam tables, exam lights, Dymo label printers, Pneumatic tube system.

Other Duties - Ordering supplies and stocking of room, pap tracking, maintaining brochures, operating office equipment: fax, printer, scanner, data entry, and additional duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a certified nursing assistant with one year experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 3 years' experience as a CNA, medical clinic/office setting experience.
