The School of Arts and Sciences (
SAS) at Rutgers University is the largest academic unit of the University and is comprised of 41 academic departments spanning humanities, social, physical and life sciences and over 100 different majors, plus programs, centers, bureaus and institutes.

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Department Administrator Supervisor for the Philosophy department within the School of Arts and Sciences. Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Philosophy, the Senior Department Administrator Supervisor is responsible for the overall management of the world-class Department of Philosophy that has a budget of nearly $15m. This includes, but is not limited to, strategic fiscal and budget planning, space management, faculty support, personnel management, and staff supervision.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Analyzes financial data and prepares financial reports for both internal and external purposes. Problem-solves consistently with the department's mission, applicable regulations, and SAS/University policies and procedures.
- Keeps abreast of planning needs and supplies historical operating data in an accurate and timely manner.
- Establishes performance standards and conducts evaluations of two direct reports.
- Works closely with the Chair, Graduate Director, and Undergraduate Director in daily operations, strategic planning, and problem-solving.
- Oversees all human resource functions and assists the Chair with faculty promotions.
- Works independently within broad level objectives, performs professional work consistently with a comprehensive understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices (GAAP).

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business/higher ed administration, accounting, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates understanding of administrative procedures and generally accepted accounting and management principles.
- 5 years relevant professional experience in administrative and financial/accounting roles, preferably in higher education or in research environment.

- Computer literacy, including advanced spreadsheet development and ability to learn Rutgers software systems.
