Position Summary
The Department of Radiation Oncology at The University of North Carolina Cancer Care Center at Rockingham (Eden, NC) is seeking a medical physicist to provide clinical radiation therapy physics services.

The University of North Carolina Cancer Care Center at Rockingham ( UNCR) is part of the broader University of North Carolina Cancer system. The Department of Radiation Oncology at Rockingham works under the guidance and oversight of the main Radiation Oncology Department located at the University of North Carolina Cancer Center in Chapel Hill, NC. The Rockingham facility is staffed by one radiation oncologist and one physicist (the position under consideration) and four radiation therapists, treating between 10 - 20 patients per day with 3D, IMRT/ VMAT, SBRT treatments on a single Elekta Infinity linear accelerator. Dosimetry sevices are provided by the dosimetry staff at UNC Cancer Center, Chapel Hill, NC. Treatment planning is conducted on Raystation (Raysearch Labs); Record and Verify uses Mosaiq. Both Raystation and Mosaiq run on Citrix and are fed from centralized servers that serve the entire UNC Radiation Oncology system, consisting of UNCR, UNC McCreary Cancer Center (Lenoir, NC), UNC Rex Cancer Center (Raleigh, NC), and UNC Cancer Center, Chapel Hill and Hillsborough, NC.

The successful candidate will provide clinical radiation therapy physics services for UNCR's Radiation Therapy program and will serve as Radiation Safety Officer. The candidate will also perform staff physicist duties such as chart checking, machine calibrations, and quality assurance. Chart checking will include both UNCR and UNC Chapel Hill/Hillsborough; based on the clinical load at UNCR, the candidate may be asked to participate in additional remote clinical duties for UNC Chapel Hill/Hillsborough. The candidate will be responsible for the precise and accurate delivery of radiation treatment plans and for the safety of patients and treatment staff. This position will report to the Director of Medical Physics (at UNC Cancer Center, Chapel Hill, NC).

Ideal candidates should have a desire to practice clinical medical physics, excellent verbal and written communications skills, strong technical skills, and a commitment to establishing new technologies in conjunction with the UNC Cancer Center at Chapel Hill.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
The successful candidate for this position must have the following qualifications: (1) an MS or PhD in Medical Physics/Physics/Engineering or related field; and (2) be ABR board certified in Therapeutic Medical Physics. Experience in IMRT/ VMAT, IGRT and SBRT are required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Specific experience with Elekta, Mosaiq, Raystation, and RadCalc is highly valued. Familiarity with Radiation Safety and State of North Carolina regulations is beneficial.
