Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Lighting and Projection Supervisor, prep, hang, circuit, color, and focus theatrical lighting and projection plots per student designs, demonstrate and guide lighting lab students in hanging, circuiting, focusing, and maintenance techniques, and maintain lighting tools and equipment, machinery, and other equipment used in the creation and presentation of theatrical productions.

Qualifications
Ability to learn the use and applications of new lighting and video equipment. (Required) Ability to effectively communicate the use and applications of lighting equipment to people with various amounts of related previous knowledge. (Required) Knowledge of the operation of theatrical productions and inter-relationships between the various disciplines. (Required) Ability to work as part of a cooperative production team and perform all functions in accordance with the time constraints and multiple demands created by the production schedule. (Required) Knowledge of the use and applications of general lighting and video equipment including control consoles, media servers, dimmers, power distribution equipment, projectors, lighting fixtures and intelligent lighting equipment. (Required)Ability to effectively communicate with production staff, faculty, staff, students and vendors. Demonstrate pride, professionalism and commitment to excellence. (Required)Ability and willingness to work flexible hours as required by the production schedule. (Required)Knowledge of the principles of lighting and electricity as applied to theatrical lighting systems. (Required)Knowledge of principles of video design and system networking as applied to theatrical use of video projection systems. (Required)Skill in reading, understanding and using light plots, instrument schedules, hook-ups and manufacturers maintenance manuals. (Required)Skill in the use of electronic test equipment including voltmeters and continuity testers. Knowledge and skill in the use of ETC and other computer control consoles. (Required)Skill in troubleshooting and isolating electronic and system problems often under severe time constraints. (Required)Ability to use personal computer to perform word processing, record keeping functions. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Skill using AutoCAD and/or VectorWorks and Lightwright software to read, generate and modify light plots, (Required)Ability to work safely at considerable heights such as stage grids and platforms including the use of ladders, lifts and scaffolds. (Required) Working knowledge of safety precautions necessary when working with ladders, stages, scaffolds, lifts and appropriate forms of fall protection. Ability to lift 60 lbs. (Required)Ability to effectively perform duties and tasks in a no smoking environment. (Required)
