Position Summary

We are seeking a Junior Software Engineer with hands-on experience in front-end development, software integration, and hardware-adjacent systems for a high-visibility effort supporting next-generation technologies in the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) domain. This role is ideal for a motivated, early-career engineer who is passionate about building mission-focused software that bridges user interfaces, data processing, and physical systems.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to real-world defense and aerospace programs while continuing to grow technical depth across the full software stack.

The selected candidate will work at our office in Huntsville with a hybrid of both in office (4 days a week) and remote (1 day a week) work.

The individual in this role will demonstrate creativity and adaptability while adhering to industry best practices, internal engineering standards, and Department of Defense (DoD) software development policies. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to analyze system needs, develop software solutions, and support the enhancement of existing and new critical applications within the client organization.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain scalable, modular software systems using MOSA-aligned (Modular Open Systems Approach) architecture.
  • Design and implement intuitive front-end user interfaces and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI).
  • Build secure and efficient back-end services and APIs to support front-end functionality.
  • Work collaboratively with systems engineers, UX designers, and other developers across the stack.
  • Participate in architecture design, code reviews, sprint planning, and continuous integration.
  • Ensure applications are robust, maintainable, and aligned with performance and security requirements.
  • Contribute to user-centered design processes and promote best practices in software development.
  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required for team collaboration, customer engagement, or system integration events.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or in-progress) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 1-3 years of hands-on software development experience, including internships, academic projects, or professional experience.
  • Experience with front-end development, including frameworks such as React.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, with working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Programming experience in one or more languages such as Python, C, or C++.
  • Familiarity with software-hardware interaction, data communication, or embedded/connected systems.
  • Experience using Git-based version control and working in a Linux development environment.
  • Exposure to RESTful APIs, scripting, or cloud-connected applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate in team-based engineering environments.
  • US citizenship with an active Secret security clearance
