Description

When you join our team in Cedar Rapids, you'll join a uniquely collaborative, multi-discipline engineering community who support each other working across our domestic design centers creating cutting edge products for global markets. You'll be paired with a mentor to help support you as an integral part of a team responsible for designing custom parts.


This leadership role will be responsible for prototype methodology and process development for our custom designed RF front end modules supporting the biggest cellular OEMs in the industry. In this role, you will work with a team of build assembly technicians ensuring quality screen printing, SMT, die attach, wire bonding, dicing, molding, shielding and mounting on EVB. This high impact position will support the module assembly of GaAs power amplifiers , SOI RFswitches/LNAs, acoustic filters, and IPDs in highly competitive cellular handset market.


You will report to the Technical Director of packaging in Cedar Rapids as part of a fast-paced, rapidly growing product development organization. The position is located in our Cedar Rapids Design Center and in this position you have the opportunity to make a uniquely large impact on the success of the Business Unit and Company.

Responsibilities

Our Process Engineer will be responsible for managing all aspects of prototype assembly development, methodology and process improvement for the Cedar Rapids Design Center.


Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:



  1. Module Assembly: Ensure quality screen printing, SMT, die attach, plasma, wire bonding, dicing, molding, shielding, laser marking and eventually plating processes. Drive new packaging assembly methodologies and best practices.
  2. Assembly Qualification: Support proto-line and packaging ensuring approach can be handed off to our production in Mexicali.
  3. Process improvements / Equipment optimization: Our dual sided products are assembled with a proto-line consisting of pick and place machines for die and SMD, temperature profile controlled ovens, grinding, wire bonding, compression molding, plasma clean, shield sputtering and laser marking equipment. This is all automated and optimized for our build processes. You will be responsible for ensuring that the equipment used is done according to consistent methodologies and optimized for performance improvements.
  4. Our processes evolve as our products evolve, so you will also be responsible for helping plan new equipment purchases and new methods/changes that can be translated to our production facilities for mass production.

Required Experience and Skills

  • BSEE or BSME with 8+ years of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering or MS + 6 years experience or PhD + 3
  • Strong ability to work with multiple teams driving continuous improvement and optimization
  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work in, and thrive in, a team environment
