Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated & experienced RN for the Cath Lab at Monmouth Medical Center.

Position Summary:

*Performs advanced diagnostic, interventional and Cath Lab procedures within the scope defined by Regulatory and Department Standards

*Is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics

*Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and emergent adult cardiac catheterization procedures

*Ensure open and effective channels of communication with patients, family/caregivers and all health care team members involved in the pre/intra/post-care of adult cardiac catheterization patients

Requirements:

*AA/AS Degree in Nursing, BSN preferred

*NJ State Registered Nurse License

*One to three years prior Cardiac Cath Lab, Critical Care, ED or telemetry experience

*Required participation in night/weekend/holiday on-call assignment/coverage

*Arrival at Hospital within 30 minutes of On-Call activation

Position Responsibilities:

*Provide pre/intra/post procedure nursing care assessment, monitoring, intervention and education related to diagnostic and therapeutic adult cardiac catheterization lab procedures including but not limited to angioplasty, coronary stents, Swan Ganz/right heart catheterization, Pacemaker Insertion, and Vascular procedures

*Transport patient to/from pre-post recovery and/or inpatient unit

*Administer intravenous and oral medications to patients

*Manage patients under procedural sedation

*Operate physiologic recorder and printer to monitor electrocardiogram and hemodynamic data

*Troubleshoot equipment issues and/or initiate repair

*Cardiogenic shock management; IABP/IMPELLA

*Actively monitor patient during adult cardiac catheterization procedures vitals, etc

*Participate in life-saving measures such as defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as needed

*Ensure adequate levels of all supplies are available in all procedural rooms

*Demonstrate competency in the following: angioplasty, coronary stents, Swan Ganz/right heart cath, pericardiocentesis, recognition of cardiac rhythms, and other cardiac cath lab procedures

Schedule:

Minimum 2 day shifts a month Friday 7am-5:30pm/9am-7:30pm

*On-Call assignment includes Weeknight/Weekend/Holidays
