Join the SystemsPlanning and Architecture(SPARC) team within Microsoft's Azure Hardware Systems and Infrastructure (AHSI) organization, the team behind Microsoft's expanding Cloud Infrastructureand for poweringMicrosoft's "Intelligent Cloud" mission.Microsoft delivers more than 200 online services to more than one billion individualsworldwide,and AHSI is the team behind our expanding cloud infrastructure. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's cloud businesses including Microsoft Azure, Bing, MSN, Office 365, OneDrive, Skype,Teamsand Xbox Live. We are seeking a passionate Infrastructure Software Engineer to design and implement solutions fora state-of-the-artnetworking lab. The scope includes infrastructure management, setup/runexperimentsand data analysis. The role includes configuring and managing switches, NICs, servers as well as building proof-of-concepts to evaluate network architectures for next-gen AI datacenter technologies. Responsibilities Develop and build proof-of-concepts to evaluate network architectures. Create experiments, to develop deep insights through benchmarking and characterization to identify opportunities for optimization. Develop andmaintainsoftware systems forlab systems management, automation, and monitoring at scale. Build tools and frameworks to simplify configuration and operational workflows for network devices and NICs. Collaborate with hardware teams to ensure seamless integration and performance of NICs and related components. Troubleshoot and resolve issues across network software and hardware layers. Participate indesign reviews,codereviewsand contribute to best practices for reliability and scalability. Qualifications Required/Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or relatedfields. Familiarity/hands on experience with any network device operating system (Sonic, Arista, Cisco, Juniper). Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and Windows servers. Proficiencyin one or more programming languages (Python,C++,C#). Good understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching). Skilled in partnering with architects, hardware and software engineers. Ability to independently run experiments,bringingclarity through data analysis, and results orientation to engage and energize collaborators and stakeholders. Collaboration skills,teamwork,and senseof presumed responsibility. Verbal and written communication skills, and ability to articulateandengage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels. Intellectual curiosity and passionaboutlearning and deployingnew technologies. Problem-solvingskills, analytical capabilities, and attention to detail. Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
